Remote work/work when you want

Cons

Unethical, unprofessional, and a lack of transparency
May 30, 2023 - Marketing & Events CoordinatorRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Work is remote, which is nice because it cuts out your commute. The hours are also somewhat flexible and management seems willing to work with your schedule, although a lot of time is spent in meetings. The consultants are also really nice and enjoyable to work with!
Cons
There is a serious issue with dishonesty, transparency, and professionalism in the marketing and HR departments. When I applied for this position, it was described as being strongly focused on content. However, I was told when offered the job that the position was changed "a little" and I would have a different title. Only after accepting the job did I learn that about 40% of my time (by my superior's estimate) would be spent doing a completely new task, trade show planning, and that I would be spending more time doing this than anything else. This was very different from the job that I applied for. I was also offered below the listed pay range in one of the company's job postings, and when I brought it up, the manager tried to play it off as if it was a different job posting despite being the same job title I applied for (just on a different website). I was able to eventually negotiate to the bare minimum in the listed range but was told that's the highest they could offer. I learned only after being hired that the entire marketing team had recently quit after the Chief Growth Officer (who manages the team) was brought on, and I learned this only because I accidentally overheard it while on a video call. When I asked about it further, I was told at one point that it was because they didn't like my manager's new work environment, but I was later given conflicting reasons. Responsibilities were intentionally kept vague by my manager and superiors in order to take advantage of employees. The manager would say repeatedly that our team functions like a basketball team and that, like a basketball player, we may be expected to "play positions other than our own" (meaning regularly complete tasks outside our set responsibilities). They used this as a way to pile on more work without needing to increase pay or offer a promotion. This is never how a workplace should function and is very unethical. I was expected to work outside of business hours and off the clock by answering questions about trade shows and solving issues that trade show attendees had. We also had required reading for a mandatory book club (explained in more detail below) that was described as "bedside reading," but I was only told after I pushed back about it that I could clock in while completing the reading. My manager (the CGO) was willing to openly speak negatively about other employees, which was concerning. I brought up my concerns about my job responsibilities being changed and kept vague as well as the story about the previous marketing team quitting, and my manager asked out of nowhere if my concerns were really coming from picking up on hostility from another employee at Practice Booster (another branch of the company) . I was confused because that employee had been nothing but pleasant to me, but she went on to say that this employee was promised the position of CGO and was resentful about my manager getting the position instead of her. My manager continued to say that the person who promised her the job wasn't in a position to do so and that she was unqualified for the position she was promised. It was a very uncomfortable situation and made me concerned that my manager might gossip about me to other people as well. HR (they call it "People Services") ignored my concerns and was not there to help me but instead was there only to defend management. I brought my the concerns about my job not being well-defined, and an HR employee brushed it off saying that my manager was new and still building her marketing team (which wasn't true - she wasn't adding more employees to the team) and that my duties may temporarily be fluid because of it. I later gave my notice and emailed HR in extensive detail about all the concerns listed above (the significant change in duties, management keeping my responsibilities vague to pile on work, having to work outside business hours and off the clock, and my manager putting me in an uncomfortable position when gossiping and speaking negatively about other employees to me). HR only addressed my concerns with the following: "We're sorry to hear of your frustrations. We disagree with your statements and allegations." That was it. It wasn't until after I called HR out for being dismissive that they offered to discuss my concerns any further. Some other smaller concerns: This department spends far too much time participating in pseudo-business activities that aren't beneficial and take up time you could be using to get work done. You're required to participate in a mandatory weekly book club where you read marketing books that are vaguely related to your job at best. You're also required to take a workplace personality test and attend team meetings where you all review your results in detail and discuss. The company has raffles at trade shows for gift cards and, rather than selecting the winner randomly as implied, they strategically select a winner based on which lead seems most promising. Similarly, the company picks "Top Practice Award Winners" and tells the winners that they were selected based on certain criteria, but the winners are actually just selected at random. This all just adds to the company's pattern of dishonesty. Also, there is quite a bit of micromanaging and unnecessary meetings, and a lot of time that is spent in meetings could be avoided by sending a quick email or two.

The entire IT department is unqualified and shady.

Remote Communication between peers was good
Cons
Management & above is always hiding things Constantly avoids performance reviews/raises by lying about policy changes Nepotism is rampant in this department and the company as a whole. IT department lies to their contractors about the connection software they install on their computers. They have access to your computer 24/7 and can see all your files, and processes running and IT department is told to keep this quiet. Department heads retaliates against employees reporting other peers for bullying because of favorites. They are not afraid to lie to cover themselves when it comes to saving themselves money IT Management acts like a dictator, whatever they say, goes, and no one should question it or tell them no or you will be strongarmed into either quitting or bending to the will of the person who decides if your "shorts are brown enough"

Pros
Pros: set own hours hours don't have to deal with patients don't have to deal with rude doctors most of the time can take vacation whenever I want and work if necessary
Cons
Cons; a lot of time for not a lot of money-I mean the pay isn't horrible, I wouldn't even consider working in the world again. I think for the work that we do, the pay needs to be revamped. We are not hourly, but paid by the amount of money we collect or the number of insurance verifications completed. We spend hours on the phone trying to figure out what the office did or didn't do so that we can get the claim paid.

Pros
I get to work from home, set my own hours, no commute, and no daycare fees. You aren’t in office so there is absolutely no drama.
Cons
The work is never done and the pay scheme is awful. You have the opportunity to make good money. But no one ever explains to you how that is. Most offices are in big trouble and upside down. Your job is to fix them then most leave and you start over. The only way this job is worth it is if your offices stay once they are cleaned up. Otherwise the amount of hours you put in is almost pennys on the hour if you have a smaller office. I ultimately decided to quit because if your office needs full time hours then you have to put in full time hours and it felt like I was always working. It was hard for me to balance work and home life

Great Company with Wonderful Opportunities for Growth
Jan 18, 2023 - Employee in Seattle, WARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The company has so much to offer and they truly care about the people. Working remotely can have it’s challenges but they are always seeking to find ways to improve. They listen to concerns and work to find solutions even though it may not always work for everyone. They care and actually pay very well. The CEO and Co Founder truly live by the Core Values of this company.
Cons
Sometimes there are struggles between the different groups, but the company is aware and working towards a solution. Nothing any company that is growing as fast as this one is won’t experience. Working remotely sometimes can get lonely if you are a people person!

Toxic work environment
Nov 3, 2022 - Customer Succes Consultant in West Chicago, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Only good thing is that you work remotely.
Cons
You do not get any benefits, not even simple needs to run your operations securely like a secure fax or secure email is not provided. No vacation no sick days. You can get lots of stress from a 'team leader' who's not even involved in the actual process of helping dental offices. Threatened about your pay by someone who just sits and gets paid for doing nothing. The whole system is not right. No protection for you as a hardworking person. Also dental offices after you cleanup their account they can just drop out and you're left out with nothing. It's not right

Success Consultants are independent contractors and they can use the eAssist platform to build their businesses. Because Success Consultants are contractors, eAssist cannot provide them with benefits or PTO. But building your own business can have wonderful rewards, and provides great flexibility.
