Toxic politics overshadow work-from-home benefits

Pros

Work from Home, Salary on Time

Cons

Politics and favoritism are deeply embedded in the culture. Your performance, hard work, and skills often matter far less than being part of the right group. Promotions and opportunities are handed to favorites while deserving employees are ignored. Some people in senior positions are shockingly immature, unprofessional, and unfit to lead teams, yet they continue to hold power and make arbitrary decisions that impact careers. Job security feels non-existent, and employees can be sidelined or removed based on personal biases rather than merit. The company constantly talks about psychological safety, community, and grit, but in reality it practices the exact opposite. Speaking up is risky, transparency is lacking, and politics outweigh professionalism. Most projects are repetitive migration work with little innovation or learning. Employees are often assigned to completely unrelated technologies without considering their experience, interests, or career growth. Overall, one of the most frustrating and disappointing workplaces I have experienced.

Pros

Remote Work with good people The actual delivery work is very easy

Cons

Very easy work is also very boring. You won't be challenged here. phData being owned by private equity now means you will be exploited. The higher up the chain you go, the more you are expected to participate in sales responsibilities, without any additional pay. Solutions architects can be expected to work up to 10 or 15 extra hours per week doing this, unpaid, beyond the 40 hours of delivery work required. And the only way to get promoted is to willingly exploit oneself in this way. They don't really care about delivery excellence anymore, and they certainly don't take employee preferences and experience into account when assigning to projects. It's all about getting a butt in a seat and charging the client, maximizing the margin, because at phdata, the workers are the product.
