I worked at thyssenkrupp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

ThyssenKrupp Industrial solutions is a very good company to work for. They are very generous and have a wide variety of projects. Worked for them for about five and a half years and would definitely do it again. Before I was laid off, they tried hard to get more projects into the office and avoid lay-offs.

    Cons

Need to be better organized when executing projects.

    Advice to Management

Projects need to be better organized in order to avoid penalties for missing deadlines.

I have been working at thyssenkrupp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good pay. Generally good benefits.
    Chance to travel internationally.
Good work/life balance with a somewhat flexible work schedule.
Since many of tk's sub-groups are smaller, you do not get many of the disadvantages of working for huge corporations.

    Cons

Not much opportunity for career growth (In my group).
No strong foundation in global communication as well as management communication (in my group).

thyssenkrupp is working towards becoming "one company" but is not there yet.

Important to note: Since tk is such a large conglomerate, with multiple sub-companies often working individually from each other, I'm sure the employee experience varies depending on the group you are employed by...

I have been working at thyssenkrupp full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Smart, generally very nice people to work with, and a good benefits package overall. Room for advancement for some. Benefits are good for master's degree candidates, less so for the rest, but within the median.

    Cons

Increasing stress due to "failure to communicate". Too big and like a room full of jealous siblings. Most recent merger feels more like a "we don't need you honey" stare down than a beneficial improvement. Company has major management issues, i.e. "too many chief's and not enough Indians". Poor communication and frequent unexplained changes in management, as well as a late response to recent project void, creating financial difficulties that have made everyone nervous and required layoffs that should have been done more than 12 months ago. New Matrix system of management is anything but transparent. Communications are difficult between offices and countries depending where the IT control and the quality of the software and hardware are on the overall importance levels. Security is confusing and confused, with people getting locked out of their information channels because someone in Germany decides they don't have a need to know. Working out problems through correct channels is hindered by matrix system. If you're German you'll go higher and farther than a local, or at least it seems that way, looking at management personnel.

    Advice to Management

Get a plan and a method, not just keep the new holding company confused. What are 'Planets" beside some brilliant idea to confuse the masses who are trying to work for you? Since the latest merger 80% of everyones' time seems to be spent in meetings trying to explain what we used to just do as our jobs, or in trying to get permission to do our jobs. The company has gotten too big. We know you can do better but don't understand why you won't.

I have been working at thyssenkrupp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good training, learn a lot, great pay for a first time internship, cool bosses, nice people

    Cons

Had a very dry corporate culture, everyone was in their upper 40's to 60's.

    Advice to Management

Try to model corporate culture to something more similar to United Shore. Make advancement opportunities available to interns.
