“I've been with Commerce Bank for 24 years. When I first started at the bank, I began as a teller. It gave me good exposure to what different careers were available in banking. From there, I found that investments was the way that I wanted to go, so I pursued something inside the Commerce Trust Company. Commerce is looking to grow employees, and it allows people to be able to create their own path forward inside the bank.”

Our Talent Management team gathered in Columbia, Missouri for some team building, learning and an opportunity to give back to our community. The team used their creative superpowers to create Capes for Kids for MU Health Children’s Hospital. We are thankful to help play a small part to help kids be kids when they visit the hospital.

If you're a new graduate who's been perusing rental websites and thinking about making the leap, we have some tips for you, courtesy of our own Derrick Brooks (DB). In addition to being an executive director of enterprise digital strategy at Commerce Bank, Derrick is a board member for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri and has provided financial guidance to many young people over the years. Here's some of Derrick's best advice for new graduates (or anyone else, for that matter) interested in getting a place of their own for the first time.
Lake Sloan’s career path at Commerce took some unexpected turns. Starting as a Personal Banker in 2018, his goals evolved — and so did our support for his growth. Today, Lake plays a key role in welcoming new team members, becoming the first to show them how they can thrive within our team.
