Greensboro – Cone Health President and CEO Dr. Mary Jo Cagle is one of Modern Healthcare’s Leading Women of 2025. The Leading Women award honors influential women from all sectors of health care. Modern Healthcare is one of the leading national publications covering the business of health care. In the past year, Cagle has led Cone Health to become a leading voice in health care by advancing initiatives prioritizing value-based care and better health care for all. Value-based care is a shift toward care that priorities prevention and health. She also led Cone Health’s journey to become part of Risant Health—an organization created to spread value-based care and improve health. “The roles held by the honorees on our 2025 list of Leading Women and Rising Stars vary greatly but they all have one thing in common — a commitment to helping their organizations reach the clinical, operational and financial goals,” says Mary Ellen Podmolik, editor-in-chief of Modern Healthcare. “Their leadership and achievements are propelling the industry forward, both in terms of improving the patient experience and serving as mentors for other women in health care.” Honorees will be recognized in Chicago in June. “I am deeply honored to be named by Modern Healthcare to the 2025 class of Leading Women and to be recognized among such influential leaders in health care,” says Cagle.

Itedal, Respiratory Therapist A few years ago, I was hit hard with a severe case of bronchitis that landed me in the hospital.
