When a mariner aboard the LNG carrier American Energy had a medical emergency related to a heart condition, the crew responded with urgency and care. Chief Mate Chalmers Pierce, Third Mate Phillip Milam and Deck Cadet Bryn Cina, a certified EMT, acted with swift, life-saving action, helping ensure a safe medical evacuation. Captain Michael Gasior Jr., who also played a key role in the response, nominated the mariners for Crowley’s TOPS Awards, the company’s peer-to-peer recognition program, for their extraordinary efforts and embodiment of our values: Drive and Integrity. Their actions underscore the strength of our safety culture and the importance of looking for one another. Congratulations to the team on earning this award and supporting one another at sea!

For more than 85 years, we have worked together with Shell, building a partnership driven by a shared commitment to providing innovative energy solutions. That same spirit of partnership motivated the development and design of Progress, the largest U.S.-built and -flagged LNG bunker barge. Now in service at the Port of Savannah, Georgia, Progress is helping LNG-powered vessels operate more efficiently while reducing environmental impact and is a tangible example of how collaboration and innovation can advance cleaner, lower-impact shipping. In this video, our director of new construction & LNG engineering, Dean Sahr, takes us behind the scenes to share the expertise and teamwork that brought this project to life, while highlighting what it means to be part of a project that’s shaping the future of the maritime industry.
