Each year, the U.S. Air Force conducts Operation Pacer Goose. The purpose of the mission is to re-supply a U.S. Air Base in the northwest corner of Greenland with life-sustaining supplies, i.e. fuels, building materials, vehicles and other types of heavier supplies. The operation is carried out in July or August, the only time of year weather conditions permit and when the ice is at its thinnest. Follow along as the 2023 mission is completed.
We celebrated Roberto Clemente Day and the lasting impact of the Hall-of-Famer, humanitarian and beloved Puerto Rican hometown hero. In #HispanicHeritageMonth, we recognized Clemente’s pioneering role as the first Latin American player inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame—paving the way for dozens of Latin-born inductees to follow. At Crowley, we are grateful to carry forward Clemente’s history and legacy as we carry out our commitment to the communities we serve.
Did you know that mangrove ecosystems can pull up to five times more carbon from the atmosphere than forests? Our dedicated team in Honduras recently came together to participate in planting 1,800 mangrove trees, helping to replenish Laguna de Alvarado in Puerto Cortes. They also took the time to understand how these remarkable trees benefit our planet on a global scale. We're incredibly proud of our team for their dedication to environmental conservation, and we're excited to share their efforts to make our world a better place.
We are joining forces with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to advance innovation in the maritime industry through augmented and virtual reality technologies. We thank our employees for leading and supporting these efforts. You all play a vital role in changing lives and promoting sustainability.
