We are honored to partner with El Nuevo Día and the ROBERTO CLEMENTE FOUNDATION CORP to amplify the great legacy of Hall-of-Famer, humanitarian and national hero, Roberto Clemente. This week, the special photo exhibit “3,000”, honoring Clemente achievements in life and baseball, began its journey from our terminal in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Pittsburgh’s PNC Park by way of our dedicated North Atlantic service. “As Puerto Rico’s longest serving U.S. shipping and logistics company, we are grateful to carry forward the humanitarian legacy of a beloved national hero by delivering the ‘3,000’ exhibit from Puerto Rico to Pittsburgh,” said Sal Menoyo, vice president of Puerto Rico and Caribbean logistics, Crowley. “It is an awe-inspiring responsibility for every Crowley employee from Puerto Rico, the U.S. mainland and beyond to share Clemente’s history with future leaders, athletes and outstanding citizens, as we live out our commitment to the communities we serve.” We look forward to delivering the exhibit to the home of Clemente’s Pittsburgh Pirates in time for all to celebrate Roberto Clemente day on September 15. As a diverse company, we reach across our business lines to meet the needs of our customers, including the U.S. government. Our expeditionary logistics team recently worked with our commercial logistics operations team to plan and move a load of heavy equipment from Jacksonville, Fla., to San Juan, Puerto Rico aboard our triple-deck barge El Conquistador proving that we have the right equipment, the right team, and the right services to Carry the World. Forward.
As a leading global provider of energy, maritime and logistics services to U.S. government and defense agencies, supporting our active-duty service members and veterans comes naturally for us. Recently Crowley’s Kelly Jenerou, a U.S. Army veteran and co-chair of our Veterans Business Resource Group, joined our friends at Wreaths Across America for their annual Stem to Stone weekend. She proudly represented our Crowley veterans and service members as she shared in a weekend of camaraderie, honor and remembrance with other veterans, military family members and friends. At Crowley, any time we can support our military service-members, past and present, here and aboard, is an opportunity we appreciate and embrace. Thank you, Kelly, for your service to our country and for what you do every day at Crowley to ensure our veterans and current service members are supported.
A monumental mooring moment at the Port of Salem, Massachusetts. With the Sea Installer – a DEME wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV) – we're not just partnering to mark a new chapter but underscoring Salem's unmatched location, space and access on the U.S. East Coast to support and advance offshore wind projects. As the Salem Offshore Wind Terminal transitions into an iconic Crowley facility with construction beginning later this year, we are thrilled for the future of U.S. offshore wind energy.
Alongside our partners and San Diego community members at the Port of San Diego, Crowley broke ground for the shoreside charging station of our forthcoming zero-emission tugboat, eWolf. The industry-first all-electric tug is under construction and is designed to sustainably and efficiently operate without a drop of fuel. The all-electric tug and its charging station are a result of federal and local partnerships among Crowley, the Port of San Diego San Diego County Air Pollution Control District, California Air Resources Board, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Maritime Administration (MARAD). We are excited to help lead the journey to sustainable, decarbonized ports of the future by investing in innovative technology.
