Say hello to Kodie Goodwin, a Senior Engineering Manager on our Tooling team! His team develops software used by other internal engineering teams to build, test, and manage their code so they can focus on building Discord. With 5.5 years at Discord under his belt, Kodie has enjoyed watching the team grow from the small group of 20 engineers he initially joined. In his free time, he chats with friends virtually through board game servers, or plays with them IRL at his favorite cafe. He’s especially a fan of the card game, Netrunner! When asked what makes him most proud to work at Discord, he said: “Leadership strives to foster an environment that gives every team a sense of autonomy, mastery, and purpose. The decisions that the Tooling team makes can have a huge impact on engineering overall and I’m really proud of the engineering culture that we’ve cultivated – I think it is what makes Discord special.” Are you interested in leading a team that creates software to make life easier for others? Meet xinxin wang Engineering Manager on our Data Platform team! His team provides tools for employees to explore data in an easy, trusting way, with the goal of democratizing it for everybody. When he’s not busy managing the team or balancing the joys of fatherhood, Xinxin finds time to take on new interests; he recently joined a Spanish learning server. When asked how Discord actualizes belonging for him, he said: “What jumps to mind immediately is our Wumpus principle about ‘cultivating belonging.’ Everybody is trying to live by that principle, through intentional relationship building, finding common ground, and working towards the same goal.” Interested in #BuildingBelonging with us? Meet Tanya Peterson, our Customer Experience aficionado! With a knack for international communication, Tanya is a German native, who taught English to children in Korea before moving to the Netherlands. She is constantly working her multilingual magic to provide a top-notch customer experience for all Discord users. When asked to describe a great experience Tanya has had at Discord, she said: "I am leading the Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG) with another colleague. About a year ago, we asked for feedback from the LGBTQIA2S+ community working at Discord to see how to better their work experience. The feedback revealed a desire to increase the Gender Affirmation benefit because it was not enough for people to do what they needed to do. Two months later, the benefit doubled, all because of the Pride ERG. It shows that leadership listened to us." Interested in being a part of providing a smooth customer experience like Tanya?
