Momentive cares about our people, our products, our communities, and our planet. 💧🌎 In Itatiba, Brazil, our people are focused on reducing the site’s water consumption by 29%, the equivalent of the annual water consumption of 40 families. By reusing rainwater in cooling towers and reusing waste from the reverse osmosis process in our manufacturing processes we are minimizing our environmental impact, helping to protect our ecosystems, and enabling community gardens like this one to flourish. Across the US, Momentive employees are taking the initiative to #inspireinclusion! Last week, our incredible teams banded together to walk 1 mile in honor of International Women's Day. Each participant's walk benefited Dress for Success, whose mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence. With unwavering pride, Momentive champions the advancement of women in both their professional endeavors and personal lives, ensuring that inclusivity thrives in every corner of its community.
February 11th marked the International Day of Women & Girls in Science. This is a day to recognize and celebrate the important role women and girls play in science and technology and to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) careers for future generations of women leaders. To celebrate this, and the upcoming International Women's Day (March 8th), we asked some of the talented women who represent Momentive and exemplify our Core Value of Innovation to share their insights on challenges women in STEM roles may face, skills needed for success, and what inspires them. We are honored to feature Smitha P. "Self motivation and hard work are essential qualities for a women in science to possess to successfully navigate common issues like work-life balance. Prioritizing my goals in both my personal and professional life, and not being afraid to ask for help when I need it, are best practices I have adopted to ensure my success." Our workforce is full of individuals passionate about DIB and motivated to drive and support cultural change across the organization. In 2023, we welcomed new Global Diversity Council members. These membership rotations help ensure consistency, as well as provide opportunities for fresh perspectives and ideas from across the organization. We concluded a competitive global Benefit Program Audit for diverse population segments, enlisting the help of a trusted third party to evaluate our current benefit offerings against local benchmarks and focusing on crucial areas like Health Equity, Women’s Health, and Modern Families. We are at or above the market with a few opportunities to expand offerings in the Health Equity category for India and Thailand. This will encompass vital services, like immunizations, preventive care, and Telemedicine, and was introduced during the 2024 benefit renewal periods. We also increased our US parental leave from 2 to 4 weeks effective Jan 2024. We enhanced our recruiting efforts to diversify outreach. This included focused university events, internships, and entry-level recruiting. Additionally, we partnered with the Association for Women in Science and the Society of Women Engineers in the US to expand opportunities for employees to connect with peers. We strengthened our DIB knowledge through our development offerings and employee reach. Momentive also funded employee activities and community events around the globe and hosted renowned speakers.
