Joining us right out of college, Luke Tremaine, senior actuarial analyst, has forged his own path in our actuary department and is blazing new trails.
“From day one, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of meaningful projects and connect with great people. Everyone here is working to help each other succeed. I have learned so much in my time here. National General has offered me a fast-paced, engaging start to my actuarial career and has supported me in my pursuit of becoming a credentialed actuary. I have been able to strike a great work and life balance.
I can’t stress enough to new grads how great of an opportunity this company can be. Ask questions and don’t be afraid to work on things that are out of your comfort zone. That is the quickest way to learn!"
Every National General investigation specialist is a gladiator, but Nik Fabianich in our Cleveland office truly slays! Whether he is investigating a fire, theft or other calamity, Nik never has to say to himself, “Are you not entertained?”. Working claims files are Nik’s passion.
National General offers its employees the opportunity to work in many different facets of the insurance industry. Nik says about his time, “My experience with National General has been overwhelmingly empowering and positive. After starting as a trainee, I have become a senior investigative specialist, handling personal and commercial auto and RV policies for nearly five years. National General has empowered me to become a valuable reference on the floor for those who have not seen a certain policy or claim before.”
Nik’s advice to new National General employees? “Proper preparation prevents poor performance. Come in every day and give to the best of your ability and be prepared to learn and to work!”
Take the advice of Mid-Market Account Manager, Mateo Garcia, "If you are looking for a growing and innovative company that empowers you to be your best, then National General is the company you want to partner with."
Mateo has been with us for three years and works out of our Milwaukee office where he is making a difference.
"National General has provided me with a wonderful opportunity to achieve professional goals. National General also lays the foundation that allows continual growth, both personally and professionally."
We're glad to have you, Mateo!
Being in the insurance industry, National General employees are accustomed to helping others in their time of need.
Not only does David Hutchinson do that daily in his role as a PIP coverage representative, but he takes it a step further in his role as EAC Charity co-person.
"National General has been a great working environment and even helped me to relocate to Tampa. In the charity co-chairperson position, I got involved with Paint Your Heart Out in Tampa.
Paint Your Heart Out is a community project that provides house painting services to elderly, disabled, and veteran members of the community in need.
I have also had the opportunity to be a part of the Hillsborough County Education Foundation helping schools with title 1 status.
It has been an amazing opportunity to be able to get involved in my new community for my job. National General has given me many opportunities to give back to the community both professionally and personally."
"My experience with National General has been nothing less than an adventure," says Megan Mosley, who manages our risk management team. "The experience and opportunity has turned into much more than I ever anticipated."
"Our culture is fun, challenging, collaborative and engaging. It is amazing to work towards goals in a collaborative environment supported by a talented leadership team who empowers us to be successful.
National General has provided me with opportunities to advance in my career and build a talented and devoted team that always goes above and beyond.
I’ve learned that I love to lead and help others discover their strengths and talents. It is very rewarding when I see growth in others that I know I've played a part in."
Large-Group Specialist, Shawn Schulz, reminds us that each little victory should be celebrated and plays a major role in the success of companies, like National General.
Thanks for your story Shawn!
“My advice is to celebrate each victory. Each sale plays a part in growing this organization. Lean on your leadership team and embrace the culture. Get involved in as many voluntary projects as possible and surround yourself with successful people.
I could write a book on how National General has drastically changed my life thanks to the opportunities available. For example, my career at National General enabled me to buy my first home and give my wife the dream wedding she always wanted. And, through my career, we’ve made new friends from Boise to Boston.
We can visit all different parts of the country and know we could see a friendly face. National General’s culture can extend beyond just the team members, too. Spouses become great friends of other team member’s spouses. These are special relationships that will last a lifetime.”
Nothing scares Sr. Estimate Writer, Jared Boothe, more than being in tight spaces with no room to move. He’ll be the first to tell you that National General definitely doesn’t box
anyone in! As part of the National Estimate Service Team (NEST), he’s been able to continue to stretch his boundaries since he started.
“I came on in the early stages of NEST. We were a small team and I’ve been able to assist throughout the amazing growth we’ve had. I started with working on our processes and procedures. Due to our incredible growth, we continually enhance our specialization and have dedicated teams to handle each avenue of the process and offer even better service.
I really enjoy being relied upon to assist all groups. I have pushed myself very hard and it feels great knowing anyone from inside adjusters and teammates to management can reach out to me for help.
This is the greatest job and experience I have ever been a part — from the culture of the company, to the management I work for and the people I work with. We are working together in a true team environment.”
Administrative Assistant, Rachel Frosch, took the words right out of our mouths when she described National General.
“A great company isn’t about the perks, it’s about the people. At National General, you get both!
Nothing beats loving the team you work with and working with people who care about you.”
This is Rachel’s National General journey:
“My experience at this company has been great so far. I have been able to learn a lot in a fast-paced environment. I love that I can ask anyone a question and they are always willing to help. I would recommend anyone to come and join National General where we have great teams and where leadership cares about their employees.
Prior to National General, I worked at another insurer for 17 years before the company closed down. The unknown was definitely scary. After a year of running my own cleaning business, I got a text message from an old colleague asking if I would be interested in interviewing for a position at National General. It was an opportunity that I could not pass up. And, here I am.”
National General attracts employees who invest in themselves and their careers. District Sales Manager, Tyzer Evans, is a perfect example.
Since joining the team in 2017 as a sales rep, Tyzer continues to broaden his horizons personally, professionally and geographically, which isn’t surprising given that his biggest fear is a fear of not living up to his potential! Tyzer says, “National General brought me to Atlanta from California, and now Houston from Atlanta. Getting to experience new markets and new parts of the country is life changing! I’ve been able to pay off my student loans, buy a home and travel!”
“My experience at National General has been overwhelmingly positive," says Tyzer, "I have been fortunate to work for other companies with great cultures, but National General has been the best so far! They stand behind their people, 100%. They respect a healthy work/life balance and give you everything you need to be successful.”
His advice to new hires is to “invest in yourself. Most people stop investing in themselves after high school or college. Be a lifelong learner.”
Talent Acquisition Manager, Ashley Smith, and National General are doing big things together!
With all this growth, Ashley's favorite movie quote from Jaws is quite accurate, "We're going to need a bigger boat!"
"My experience with National General has been one of support and career advancement. It is amazing to work for a company with so much growth and opportunity. I've never worked anywhere else that has made me feel like my opinions and contributions are so valued. The team environment makes it exciting to come to work every day.
I started as a Corporate Recruiter with National General and was promoted to Corporate Recruiter II and now finally promoted up to Talent Acquisition Manager! With the company growth, I've seen great opportunities for advancement and that means a lot. "
Ashley's advice to new employees? "If you work hard, you will be rewarded."
