Since launching in 2021, our chronic care management initiative, Impact By One Medical, has helped patients across gender and ethnicity groups adopt healthy lifestyle habits and reduce risk factors for chronic conditions like diabetes. As of today, patients enrolled in the program have seen a substantial reduction of HbA1c by 3-5 points and average cholesterol/LDL reduction from 60 mg/dl to 20 mg/dl — improvements that can reduce their risk of death, heart attack, and microvascular complications. Learn more about how Impact has helped improve health outcomes for diabetic patients.

“I get to do everything from home and can work from bed on days I’m not feeling well. I have my healthcare benefits back, and my husband is covered too. I’m able to be flexible with my schedule. When I first got hired, they asked me if I had any accommodations. As a nurse, that's the first time I'd ever been asked that.” One Medical's Jenneh Rishe, RN shares her experience as a healthcare provider living with chronic illness, and explains how working remotely has been the best decision for her health and her career.
At One Medical, we’ve been offering paid four-week sabbaticals since 2013 — allowing our team members to grow in both their personal and professional lives. Employees have used the time to do everything from travel, learn a language, spend time with family, or pick up a new hobby. New York based provider, Melanie Chang, FNP, for instance, used her sabbatical to explore South Africa with her mom, discovering a love for photography along the way! Here’s what she had to say about her sabbatical: “I learned how to take a moment for myself and enjoy beautiful, calming moments in nature. My life is so busy and loud (especially in New York City!) that sometimes I forget to breathe. Being in nature, listening to the birds chirp as the sun rises, and sitting in silence under starry skies watching a pride of lions walk by, reminded me how rejuvenating nature can be for both the mind and body. Bringing this new sense of self-awareness and revitalized energy back to work has allowed me to be a better provider to my patients and rediscover why I love practicing primary care at One Medical."
From yoga and pilates to physical therapy, and now phlebotomy, San Francisco-based Labs Services Specialist, Linsey Atis has always enjoyed roles that allow her to work hands-on with others. Throughout her career, she’s learned just how far empathy can go, knowing that we aren’t always aware of what others are going through. Today in the lab she aims to show compassion in every interaction, and create safe, supportive spaces for all her patients. Thanks for all you do, Linsey! #HumansBehindHealthcare
