🎒 Student Highlight: Jacob Westers, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences before enrolling as a nursing student at the University of Providence Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Lewistown, Montana. “The University of Providence was the perfect school for my situation. With my background in healthcare, I felt comfortable doing an accelerated-style program. UP’s program was one of the fastest start-to-finish programs that I found that would allow me to start practicing as a nurse several months earlier than I would have in a different program." “I’m looking forward to growing as a human with my nursing degree. I know my interactions with colleagues and patients will teach me about life and provide me with new perspectives. I also look forward to the impact I will have on the lives of people struggling with health complications. I know I can provide the support, empathy, and care to get my patients through tough times.”

At Providence, everyone is welcome, and one way we make sure caregivers feel that is through our Caregiver Resource Groups (CRGs). The Providence CRGs are vital spaces where caregivers can bond with others with similar experiences, cultures and perspectives—and are open to anyone who wants to learn. They enable meaningful conversations with fellow caregivers and with leadership, as well as connections with the communities we serve. We spoke with some of our CRG members about the primary benefits of the groups.
Medical assistants are vital to delivering world-class care to patients—and one way MAs can serve patients close to home is by working in one of our 1,000 clinics across Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas or Washington. There are opportunities in major metropolitan areas, seaside communities and small cities with big scenery and even bigger heart—and many positions offer sign-on bonuses. Read on for caregiver perspectives and five reasons to work with us as a clinic MA.

At Providence, we're one big happy family, literally! Meet Marcea & Melissa and Linda & Sarah, mother-daughter duos at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in California. "It is telling that we have enjoyed our careers here [so much] that we encouraged our children to come join us," says Marcea Keller, RN, who recruited her daughter to join our team. Marcea, a nurse of 26 years, is proud to work alongside her daughter Melissa Keller, RN, who recently transitioned from respiratory therapy to a nursing role. "It speaks to our culture of friendship and work-family community,” she says. “That's why I have stayed: We are family." Linda Thompson, RN, recruited her daughter Sarah Hart, RN, to the team. This mother and daughter duo often cross paths as they walk the hallways caring for our patients. We're proud to offer a culture that brings families together.
A top reason our caregivers say they continue working at Providence is because we live our Mission to serve all, especially the poor and vulnerable, every day. Living the Mission means different things to different people, but we aim to create an environment where all caregivers feel inspired to fulfill their personal calling and do the work that matters to them.
