Charlene, a Facilitator with our corporate learning solutions team, organizes instructor and virtual instructor led programs. As an avid volunteer in her free time, when she joined Spectrum, she was excited to learn about our community impact programs, namely our Spectrum Employee Community Grants (SECG). For over fifteen years, Charlene has volunteered with the Florence Crittenton Services organization in Charlotte, North Carolina. She nominated Florence Crittenton Services for a grant and it was awarded in recognition of her commitment. SECG funds are granted to qualifying nonprofit organizations within Spectrum’s footprint. Since its inception in July 2019, more than 500 grants have been made in 32 states. Our community impact programs and initiatives are one way we invest in the communities we serve. International Day of Pink was created as part of a campaign to end bullying against the LGBTQ community and encourage allyship. On April 12, our five Business Resource Groups (BRGs) came together to recognize the importance of acceptance and inclusion of the LGBTQ community by wearing pink and donning Day of Pink wristbands. Later this month, in partnership with Out and Equal, our Spectrum LGBTQ BRG will host a webinar on how to go from ally to advocate.
