We are driving the #cleanenergy transformation in #PuertoRico with two groundbreaking initiatives that will help advance #energy resilience and grid stability on the Island. We’ve officially launched the Sunnova Power Flex Program in collaboration with LUMA's Customer Battery Energy Sharing (CBES) initiative, revolutionizing the way distributed solar and storage customers contribute to grid stability during periods of high demand. By voluntarily participating in the program through the Sunnova Flex Power Program, our customers will play an active role in bolstering the grid and supporting a reliable power supply for Puerto Ricans and will be financially compensated for their contribution. In addition, we are among the eight organizations selected by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Deployment Office to receive part of a $440 million commitment to install rooftop solar and batteries in vulnerable single-family households across the island through the Puerto Rico Energy Resilience Fund (PR-ERF). This substantial funding aims to support the installation of up to 40,000 residential systems. Additionally, we continue to make significant strides in improving its customer service infrastructure in Puerto Rico, including establishing a call center with over 35 dedicated service representatives, a 400% increase in our workforce since 2022, and a pledge to address most service claims within 24 hours. Our Global Command Center in Houston, TX allows for the monitoring of the entir

We’re excited to be with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), WindMar Home, and LUMA Energy today in Puerto Rico as we celebrate Project Hestia—the DOE’s first distributed energy project and first virtual power plant project, the launch of our Power Flex Program through LUMA's recently launched Customer Battery Energy Sharing (CBES) initiative, and our overall commitment to bringing more clean, affordable and reliable power to the people of Puerto Rico. Through these initiatives, our customers are helping to reduce overall demand on the grid, minimize blackouts, and keep the power on. Sunnova is committed to making lasting investments by establishing a local call center, doubling the number of our highly trained service technician team over the past year to nearly 100, and implementing our 24/72 service response time on the island. Our dedicated team, coupled with a trusted network of dealers, is helping to power the island with the energy services it truly deserves, solidifying Sunnova’s position as a leader in the residential solar space in Puerto Rico. Together, we're shaping a future where sustainable energy is accessible to Puerto Ricans.
We are proud to have been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s DOE Grid Deployment Office as part of a $440 million investment from the Puerto Rico Energy Resilience Fund, helping to support residential solar and battery storage system installations for 30,000 to 40,000 vulnerable, single-family households in Puerto Rico. This funding is expected to improve energy resiliency by helping to keep power flowing during extreme weather events, support thousands of local clean energy jobs, and contributing to the larger goal of a sustainable future. This investment not only fuels the progress towards President Biden's vision of affordable energy for all Americans but also aligns with Puerto Rico's ambition of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2050. “As the leading residential solar and battery storage services company in Puerto Rico, Sunnova takes great pride in joining forces with LUMA Energy for this groundbreaking energy solution. We firmly believe that the CBES initiative will not only enhance Puerto Rico's grid but also recognize and reward the valuable contributions of participating customers." – John Berger This program will revolutionize the way distributed solar + storage customers contribute to the grid. During grid instability, when existing power plants struggle to meet demand, batteries from Sunnova customers are able to step in, reducing grid strain and blackouts. Customers are compensated for battery power, encouraging #renewableenergy adoption. It's a win-win-win: stronger grid, customer benefits, and reduced reliance on fossil fuels. This initiative offers Puerto Ricans a more resilient power supply and rewards consumers for their energy-conscious choices. Read more about the Sunnova Flex Power Program: https://bit.ly/49bJO6y

Amid the growing focus on #sustainability, it's important to distinguish fact from fiction concerning #solarpanel waste. Illustrated in the 'Solar Panel Waste in Context' graphic by Inside Climate News, it becomes evident that solar panel waste is, in reality, a mere “drop in the ocean.” This proportion pales in comparison to major waste categories such as plastics, coal ash, municipal solid waste, and e-waste like old phones and computers. Highlighting the significance of responsible end-of-life management for solar panels, this reaffirms that #solarpower remains a remarkably eco-friendly option — offering a clear and sustainable path towards a greener future.
