During a customer service visit in Florida, Paul Mathews, our Executive Vice President of Service – Americas and Supply Chain, spent some time talking with Kyle N., one of our master electricians. Kyle shared one of his favorite service experiences that epitomizes our service technicians’ commitment to going above and beyond. On one of his days off, Kyle received an urgent call from a team member regarding a critical issue with a solar installation. Without a moment's hesitation, Kyle immediately got into his car and drove for three hours to reach the customer's remote location, ready to assist. "The house was in the middle of nowhere, and I had to work on a system I had never seen before, but I took responsibility for it. We can't make mistakes, but it's our job to find them. When you open a box, you own it. This is my job, my responsibility, and what I believe in."—Kyle Paul added, "It's not just about getting the job done; it's about going above and beyond for our customers. Exceptional customer service is what builds trust and sets our team apart. “We are very disappointed with the changes in the revised scoping memo, which shows a lack of consideration for stakeholder participation in the new microgrid multi-property tariff creation. Before, stakeholders could participate. This will impact the outcome, and benefit the utilities instead of the ratepayers.”—Jamie Charles, Sunnova Manager of Grid Services Policy California's microgrid development journey has taken an unexpected turn. When SB 1339 was passed in 2018, the goal was to facilitate the commercialization of microgrids through a fair microgrid tariff system. However, recent developments have raised concerns, including the focus shifting towards utility monopolization of community microgrids and the tariff for multi-property microgrids being discussed without adequate stakeholder input. Sunnova remains committed to working with the state of California to develop community microgrids that enhance energy resiliency and serve the community. We believe there are better approaches than relying solely on the traditional utilities. More in Microgrid Knowledge.
