Exciting day in the Sunshine State! Paul Mathews, our new EVP of Service, Hector De Los Santos, our VP of Operations and Maintenance, and Kelsey Hultberg, our EVP of Communications and Sustainability, had the opportunity to go out in the field in Kissimmee, Florida with several of our fantastic service technicians to witness the power of service in action. During their day in the field, they observed our service experts troubleshooting, inspecting, and performing repairs, all to ensure that our customers' systems continue to operate at peak performance levels. In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing a behind-the-scenes look at this trip and our commitment to delivering top-notch service to our customers in Florida. “The misconception that solar will always be intermittent is the constant problem that we face. What are you going to do when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine? My response: have you ever heard of a battery? We’ve got to get over that hurdle. Frankly, it's just an excuse and at best an uneducated excuse. We need to get over that and move on, and then figure out how we can best adopt the technologies of solar and storage that are plummeting in price, through empowering the individual.”—John Berger, Sunnova CEO Discover more in EnergyCapitalHTX's conversation with John as they discussed topics from misconceptions about #solarpower to the rise of the home as a #power station.
In collaboration with Empowered By Light, we were able to complete our second installation of three Tesla Powerwalls, gateways, and a permanently mounted #solar array, at the Church of Nazarene in Pukalani, Maui. We extend our thanks to Rising Sun Solar and Footprint Project for assisting with the installation and logistics. This system will displace a diesel generator and power a machine donated by WAIEA Water, using atmospheric water production technology to convert air into critically needed drinking water. Amidst water advisories and contamination issues caused by the #wildfires, this solar + #batterystorage solution not only provides #cleanenergy but also ensures a sustainable source of clean drinking water for Maui residents now and in the future. We are proud to be a small part of this initiative, making a tangible difference in the community's lives.
Following the devastating Maui fires, we were proud to partner with Empowered By Light to donate five Tesla Powerwalls, gateways, and materials to bolster critical relief efforts on the island. Thanks to Rising Sun Solar, who facilitated the installation, and Footprint Project, who has been assisting with logistics and site assessments, two of the batteries have been strategically deployed as Mobile Powerwall Units (MPUs) powering an important aid site at Honokawai Beach Park on West Maui. This site serves as a vital hub, offering daily meals to both fire victims and community members housing families who lost their homes in the fires. Powered by MPUs, this site sustains essential operations like an information tent with computers and personal devices, chest freezers, a kitchen, refrigeration, and Starlink communication — and is also actively engaged with the Maui Food Bank, facilitating the distribution of a wide range of essential supplies to those in need. Our commitment to Maui extends beyond our customers and we are honored to have the opportunity to support the resilient people of Maui. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Empowered by Light and Moira Hanes for their assistance in identifying opportunities for power installations on the island to aid those in need of critical, reliable and clean power. Stay tuned for more updates as we work to support Maui: https://bit.ly/3btBoy0
