Dangerous cuts advanced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) are not new. However, this year, the proposed reimbursement cut is a 10.4 percent reduction in physician Medicare reimbursement, starting in January 2023. What does this mean for our healthcare system? It will worsen the physician shortage, driving away potential providers and exacerbating the pace at which providers leave practices. Congress must act swiftly to reverse these cuts before they hit healthcare providers.
