On National Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, UGI BOLD (Black Organizational Leadership & Development) teamed up with World Affairs Council of Philadelphia and Longwood Gardens to clean up and prepare the garden at William Bodine High School for International Affairs in Philadelphia for spring. Volunteers participated in a variety of maintenance and beautification tasks, including removal of litter and debris from school grounds, trimming and pruning of trees and shrubs, plotting out new garden beds for spring planting, as well as preparing for indoor seed starting. UGI volunteers also performed repairs to existing structures in the garden. UGI BOLD is an employee resource group focused on inclusion, equity, education, and empowerment for Black employees and their allies at UGI. UGI BOLD encourages professional development by creating mentoring opportunities, increasing exposure through networking and career development events, and promoting UGI initiatives through community involvement. A little history lesson about Veterans Day Veterans Day originated in honor of the ‘eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month’ of 1918, signaling the end of World War I. Originally called, “Armistice Day,” it was changed to “Veterans Day” in 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, to pay tribute to ALL American veterans. Happy Halloween! 🎃 🦇 👻 Children of all ages will be out and about trick-or-treating in our communities tonight. UGI encourages everyone to be safe, especially out on the roads or in high-traffic areas. Keep the following tips in mind as you enjoy #Halloween fun: 🦇 When driving, slow down and be alert in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways. 🦇 Decorate Halloween costumes and bags with high visibility tape or stickers. 🦇 Make sure a responsible adult supervises small children or that older children walk in groups and take familiar routes while trick-or-treating. 📸: UGI and AmeriGas employees carve pumpkin to celebrate the spooky season. 🎃
