All around the world, Urban Scientists reflect the unique cultures of the communities in which we work – including Shanghai, China, where our colleagues recently gathered to reflect on their many achievements and lessons learned in 2021, and to celebrate the Chinese New Year together. In early November, we launched our new Community Giving grant program, which was created to amplify our team’s passion for doing good through company contributions to the organizations they support. Our global team members nominated organizations for consideration, then voted to determine the winners. SPOILER ALERT: no nominated cause was left behind 💪.
Our chief information officer, Elizabeth Klee, recently shared her advice for battling change fatigue related to digital transformation with The Enterprisers Project. Best of all, these words of wisdom are applicable to non-IT leaders as well. Check them out:
Led by Maggie Eason, an Urban Scientist working in our Nashville office, our Music City team embodied our company’s commitment to supporting our communities by assisting Nashville Diaper Connection on its mission to ensure every baby in Davidson County has enough diapers to stay clean, dry and healthy. “In our experience, the most important step is the first step, even if it’s a small one,” said Eason. “The important thing is putting your good ideas and intentions into action.” Learn more in our blog by clicking below!
“At Urban Science, we’re encouraged to discover our unique formulas for success through a wide range of benefits – including paid time off for volunteering – available to our team,” said Brittany Aller, senior manager, who also volunteered to aid Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in New Orleans. “Community service is a key ingredient of my formula and I’m grateful to work for an organization – and alongside a team – that embraces, and leverages, our collective ability to make a positive impact on those who need us most.” Learn more about our Urban Scientists’ annual volunteer efforts with Life Remodeled by clicking the link.
In support of our vision to invent a better future, we’ve expanded our support of The Engineering Society of Detroit Girls in Engineering Academy today, #NationalSTEMDay, with a $25,000 grant to empower metro Detroit girls to unlock new career pathways in STEM. Our Urban Scientists traded data science for devious scares to celebrate Halloween in our annual spooky employee decorating contest! Check out our 1st place winner from our Director of Marketing, Amy, with the skeleton graveyard, 2nd place went to our Global DBA Manager, Bill and his creepy camp set up, and 3rd scooped up by one of our Managers, Maggie, and her incredible pumpkin carving! Happy Halloween weekend from Urban Science!
Michigan-based Urban Scientists rolled up their sleeves and spent a day volunteering in Detroit with Life Remodeled during the organization’s Project Week – cleaning up blight to make Detroit a better place to live, work and visit. Project Week mobilizes thousands of volunteers to increase visibility and access in neighborhoods surrounding the Durfee Innovation Society, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of it. Supporting Life Remodeled’s vision to equitably revitalize Detroit neighborhoods, Urban Science is proud to donate to their educational philanthropic efforts as well. Thanks to all who participated and thanks for all you do, Life Remodeled! After the event, the team gathered for well-deserved drinks and snacks!
We’re proud to announce @Elizabeth Klee was recognized as the Michigan CIO 2021 Corporate CIO of Year ORBIE Award winner. On behalf of our company and our Urban Scientists around the globe – congratulations! Read more below;
