What if the best classroom for leadership isn't always a book or a boardroom, but a muddy field? Gem Greer started a farm with no prior experience, a journey that taught her how to build a vision from scratch, adapt to challenges, and lead a team in a way that brings out the best in everyone (even when wrangling sheep is involved 🐏). For Gem, this experience, which she's now brought into her role at UW, was and is about taking leaps of faith, learning as you go, and balancing ambition with practical realities ✨ Here are three takeaways from her talk: 🌟 Lead with vision. Setting clear, aspirational goals gives direction and inspires those around you. 📈 Be adaptable. Learning, pivoting, and embracing change are key to turning ideas into reality. 💜 Understand your team. Knowing people’s strengths, needs, and motivations allows you to guide, support, and grow together.

🚀 How do you lead a transformation that impacts over a million customers? For Andrew Springall, it starts with experience. Over 40 years in customer service and operations. From helping open the UK’s first Blockbuster to now leading one of the biggest shifts in our history, he’s building the platform that will support UW’s growth for the next five years ✨ Here are three takeaways from his latest Spark Speaks talk: 🗻 Big change takes everyone. Like the ‘Everest’ wall at Tough Mudder, it’s not about how you get over, but how the team gets there together. 🌟 To succeed, you need to focus on what makes you different. For us, it’s being multi-service — giving customers one bill and a joined-up experience across everything they have with us. That’s the magic. 💡 You need to know what gets you out of bed. For Andy, it’s helping people on their journey — and bringing energy into everything he does.
