Chairman and CEO Mary Laschinger was the keynote speaker at the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Second Century luncheon today. She was accompanied by former Girl Scouts who are now leaders at Veritiv. Mary spoke to the organization on leadership and how to achieve career success and happiness. She encouraged each person “to constantly learn and find passion in life. Once you find your passion, it will make every day rewarding and exciting. The Girl Scouts organization supports investing in girls’ dreams. Yesterday was the Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta Annual IMPACT Awards ceremony, of which Veritiv was a Gold Sponsor, and Veritiv’s own Kristie Madara is President. The Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Atlanta has brought together business professionals who are passionate about workplace volunteerism and civic engagement so that they may share best practices, strengthen community investment strategies, and make a difference through service. The event was emceed by Nick Valencia of CNN, and we kicked off the event with a “Stuff the Car” diaper drive, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz USA, and a Letter Writing Campaign for Operation Gratitude, hosted by Hands On Atlanta. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and nominees who are truly an inspiration for workplace volunteerism.
Last week, Veritiv employees spent time mentoring at both JA of Georgia Discovery Centers in Atlanta and Gwinnett. Veritiv partners with Junior Achievement to provide middle and high school students with the knowledge and skills they need to plan for the future. Thank you to the Veritiv volunteers.
