Gooood morning from Webcor Concrete Project Engineer Destiny Sepulveda and Sr. Project Engineer Jordan Davis! Who says hard work can't be fun? Thank you to Webcor Project Director Mark Delgado for capturing this great shot in Berkeley!
Talk about a perfect team-bonding event! Our San Francisco International Airport (SFO) International Terminal Building (ITB) Roof Upgrade team recreated SFO's iconic building during a team outing at Paint the Town. It was a perfect opportunity to flex their artistic muscles while giving themselves a keepsake of this impactful project—a comprehensive effort to restore and fortify the facility's façade against the elements and improve energy consumption.
FIRST place! For the second year, Webcor APAC (Asia PAC-ific, Webcor's Asian-American/Pacific Islander employee resource group) competed against neighboring Bay Area companies in California Dragon Boat Association's annual Sprints Race. Despite the unexpected downpour, Webcor APAC's team of novice dragon boat paddlers came out on top, placing first in their final race and beating their previous sprint time in each round! Congratulations to our unstoppable Webcor APAC team!
It's official: The Contra Costa County Administration Building & Redevelopment Project is the world's first TRUE Certification for Zero Waste Gold for construction-certified public project! The TRUE Certification for Construction program, administered by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), recognizes projects that achieve exceptional levels of waste reduction, reuse, and recycling. Over the course of the CCC Admin Building project, 95% of construction waste was diverted from landfills and waste-to-energy facilities, and greenhouse emissions were reduced by 8,500 metric tons. Many thanks to Perkins&Will, Contra Costa County, and All About Waste for your partnership in our journey to TRUE Gold! Photo by Kyle Jeffers Photo
The Dianne Feinstein International Terminal roof upgrade project at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has commenced! We're thrilled to be delivering this landmark project, which will fortify and restore the façade of SFO’s crown jewel facility and enhance energy performance, in partnership with SFO and our key project partners including Rosendin, Thompson, Sitco, and Architectural Glass & Aluminum. Thank you to everyone who joined us at the project's groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of this exciting upgrade for the largest international terminal in North America!
It's official: Verde, formerly known as Mission Rock Parcel F, has received its temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO)! Nestled in the heart of San Francisco's rapidly growing Mission Rock neighborhood, Verde will offer expertly crafted residential units overlooking spectacular views of China Basin's new waterfront park and the San Francisco Giants' home stadium (Oracle Park), as well as ample amenity/retail space. The building’s podium creates multiple terrace levels that overlook the lively public space, cultivating an open community atmosphere. Congratulations to the entire team on reaching this major milestone on Verde's journey to substantial completion!
Another jam-packed week at Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Reno in the books! For the last 15+ years, Webcor's sponsored the Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) problem statement at ASC Reno's annual Regions 6 & 7 Student Competition. Student teams are tasked with strategizing creative solutions to real-world challenges tackled during recently completed or in-progress projects... within 15 hours. Congratulations to California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo Teams #1 and #2 and Boise State University on placing first, second, and third respectively in the VDC category this year!
The UCSF New Hospital at Parnassus Heights (NHPH) team recently organized a volunteer day at the Leap - Arts In Education Sandcastle Classic in San Francisco! This annual fundraiser for Leap Arts in Education supports Leap's mission to provide top-quality arts education programs that help students build skills to achieve their fullest potential. Dozens of UCSF NHPH team members came together to support this beloved event's success, from coordinating day-of logistics to mentoring Rosa Parks Elementary School students (our Leap-associated partner school). Several team members also managed our fundraising activities, which included selling snacks in our office, hosting a bartending event/raffle at a local bar, and requesting donations from our company partners. Together, we successfully raised over $10,000 for Leap, which will fund an entire semester of art classes for 150 students!
After 13 months of being up and operational, Mission Rock Parcel F's tower crane has been dismantled! The Parcel F team raced to procure and load all heavy materials to the high roof before the dismantle process began. Bigge used their recently purchased 770-ton hydraulic mobile crane to save us the complications of shutting down the west road (and interrupting Mission Rock Horizontal’s ongoing work) or of jumping the crane down when dismantling. Thank you to all of our dedicated partners who supported this operation's success, and shout-out to Webcor Superintendent Barret Neumayr for his excellent leadership throughout the process!
We were thrilled to sponsor the San Jose State University Spartans' home opener at CEFCU stadium earlier this month! Webcor CFO Matt Reece did the coin toss, and the Webcor team behind the state-of-the-art Spartan Athletics Center led a lively construction tool naming challenge for attendees and enjoyed the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ring the victory bell during half-time. Looking forward to a great season ahead!
