Earlier this month, the entire 1510 Webster team celebrated topping out with a classic Webcor BBQ and speeches from project leaders including Webcor Craft Sr. Construction Manager Mike Gilmore, Webcor Craft Superintendent Matthew Miller, and oWOW President Andy Ball! After installing the 19th floor on August 2, the team placed the final wood panel on August 8 as part of the celebratory BBQ organized by Webcor Concrete and Webcor Timber — shout-out to our Webcor grill masters Patrick Haley (Webcor Concrete Sr. Superintendent), Dennis Heimer (Webcor Concrete Sr. Construction Manager) & Greg Scott (Webcor Concrete Project Director) for another outstanding BBQ! Standing 19 stories tall, 1510 Webster will soon be one of the tallest mass timber buildings in the world. This mixed-use structure will offer ground-floor retail, a public plaza brimming with greenery and art for visitors to enjoy, and 222 one- and two-bedroom units throughout an 18-story tower in the heart of downtown Oakland!
We're thrilled to announce that we celebrated the "topping out" of Tidal House SF with developer Wilson Meany and Stockbridge Capital, marking a significant milestone as we reach new heights on Treasure Island! From spacious studios to luxurious two-bedroom apartments, a state-of-the-art fitness center, coworking spaces, and a rooftop deck with stellar City and Bay views, Tidal House SF is set to redefine waterfront living in San Francisco.
Congratulations to the entire Mission Rock Parcel F team on officially topping out! Despite a rough San Francisco winter that could have easily posed weather delays, Webcor Concrete and our incredible trade partners finished 26 days ahead of schedule with zero lost-time incidents. Many thanks to our Mission Rock partners for joining us in the celebration BBQ: Tishman Speyer, San Francisco Giants, Pacific Steel Group (PSG), Marelich Mechanical Co., Inc., Cupertino Electric, Inc., Allied Fire Protection, and Critchfield Mechanical, Inc. Once complete, this 315,000-SF, 254-unit residential tower will offer 96 apartments and ample amenity and retail space in the heart of Mission Rock, San Francisco's rapidly growing waterfront community neighboring Oracle Park and Chase Center!
CitizenM San Francisco has officially been certified LEED Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)! This colorful, unique high-rise hotel features 195 guest rooms, a bar, gym, rooftop terrace, and ground floor retail in the heart of San Francisco's famous Union Square. The team earned "exemplary" performances for sourcing 30 percent of their materials regionally and providing open space—despite the limited project site—and reducing heat island effect in both roof and non-roof spaces. We're proud to have delivered this One Webcor project (Webcor self-performed concrete, drywall, and carpentry in addition to general contracting services) in partnership with Gensler to provide San Francisco visitors a beautifully designed hotel that prioritizes occupant health and well-being! Say hello to Hollywood Park Retail Phase 1! Webcor delivered this exciting project for LA's Inglewood neighborhood last year in partnership with The Kroenke Group, Wilson Meany, AO, BCV Architecture + Interiors, Studio-MLA, Englekirk Structural Engineers / Englekirk Institutional, and our trusted trade partners. Hollywood Park Retail Phase 1 comprises eight 1-story buildings and five 2-story buildings housing a 12-screen cinema, a fitness center, retail anchor spaces, and a broad mix of inline shops and restaurants. It also includes a series of plazas, landscaping/hardscaping, private roads and drives, surface parking areas, and various site improvements. Thank you to Monarch Aerials for producing this beautifully shot video!
On Jan. 1, Webcor President & COO Matt Rossie ascended to the role of Chief Executive Officer as part of a long-planned succession prompted by immediate past CEO Jes Pedersen's upcoming retirement. As CEO, one of the first initiatives Matt plans to tackle is the completion of an update to Webcor’s strategic plan, which will introduce the next set of company milestones to ensure continued profitable growth. “Matt is taking the reins at a very challenging time, given the impacts of the pandemic and rising interest rates, but I have no doubt that his ability to devise unique solutions and build trust will lead to a pipeline filled with exciting new projects," Jes shares.
Webcor Craft Superintendent Matt Miller recently spoke with Construction Dive Associate Editor Matthew Thibault about the future of Webcor Timber—the latest addition to Webcor's self-perform group, Webcor Craft—and the rising demand for mass timber throughout California. "The current backlog of a lot of the mass timber suppliers is about two years. The appetite is huge," Matt shares. Read the full Q&A here!
It's official -- the Beaudry (formerly 960 W. 7th Street), one of LA's tallest residential high-rises, has topped out! Last Wednesday, the project team celebrated with a topping out ceremony that included the raising of the final beam (signed, as always, by members of the construction team) and remarks from developer Brookfield Properties, Webcor Vice President Charles Chiparo, and Webcor Sr. Project Director Ahmad Tahir.
Webcor's Green Team leaders wrapped up their first set of companywide Hiking Days with last Friday's San Francisco hike at Glen Canyon Park! South Bay, East Bay, and SoCal-area Webcorians also enjoyed gorgeous, scenic hikes in Mountain View, Berkeley, and Los Angeles throughout March. Each Webcor office's Green Team is composed of employee volunteers who are dedicated to promoting and celebrating environmental responsibility at Webcor.
Congratulations to our Project Engineer Experience and Engagement Committee (PEEC) on wrapping up their first set of quarterly job walks! These job site walks are led by Webcor superintendents and offer PEs the chance to learn about safety, constructability, logistics, and issues that often arise on an active job site. This month, Bay Meadows Stations 1 & 5 hosted the NorCal job walk in San Mateo, and the Silver Lake Reservoir Complex Storage Replacement Project hosted the SoCal job walk in Los Angeles!
