Pros
The pros are the people that you share the struggle with. They are the reason you can head into work and tolerate all that you have to tolerate while working here. The environment is beyond stressful with what they assign to people, but at least you know there are people suffering with you. Misery loves company.
Cons
The cons heavily outweigh the pros.
During my time here, I experienced things that either dont normally occur in a workplace, or are so common that anyone working in the professional realm would be familiar with them, but seeing that it was my second role after college, I was vastly unprepared for the hellstorm that came my way.
Productivity:
- Working in recruiting, its obviously the norm for there to be some standard of productivity. What the mgmt team doesnt understand though is that when you only use a limited resource that uploads the same resumes over and over again, you will constantly fall short on the absurd goals that are placed in front of you. To ensure privacy I wont go over what the goals were, but I can tell you that the team pretty consistently missed collective goals and that only a few that had stronger connections within the industry (through being associated with specific accounts or being in the industry for so long) were typically the only ones hitting these goals.
Culture:
- Culture is maybe the greatest part for this company and its achilles heel at the same time. Like I said before in the pros, the people that you work with are the greatest part of working there, hands down. The culture that upper management sets though is probably one of the most toxic that I have seen. If you dissent in any way, shape, or form, you immediately become enemy of the state and are ostracized and then gaslight for it. They will have meetings about performance, give you ultimatums constantly on how you need to shape your behavior if you want to be there, and essentially leave you out there to float on your own when they are done with your use to the team, all the while having been one of the top producers during your time there (that last bit is specific to my situation, but regardless the other parts are accurate to almost everyone's experience there).
MGMT:
Management is tough to work with there. Whether its the director team, or the sales management team, the blame will always fall onto the recruiter. There could be a lack of openings for the team and they will still place blame on the recruiters citing that they need to gather more leads, even if the positions that people are recruiting on are paying below market rate and offer little to no outside benefits other than just having a job to pay your bills.
Its tough to phrase this in the right way. Aerotek is great if you have the time to pour everything into the job for a couple years. The payoff is absolutely amazing given that its commission based and you will see that come through on the paycheck. The cons just heavily outweigh the pros given that you will have no time for a personal life and you will have to deal with an extraordinary amount of stress while you work there.
