      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - It's a big company with lots of opportunity and internal mobility. - Great benefits like healthcare, dental, vision, and they cover many costs for professional education. - Pay is about on-par with job market

      Cons

      - Not many opportunities for remote work - If you don't live in the NoVA/DC area, your opportunities are limited

      Great company to work for

      Pros

      - Values your work life balance - Good benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, 401K (6% match)) - Pays well (not the best in the area, but certainly not the worst)

      Cons

      - Highly program dependent experience - Self starters are more valued (only a con for people who are not self starters) - Upper management is not very communicative

Great Benefits But Bigger Isn't Always Better

      Senior consultant
      Former employee
      Dayton, OH
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Team Leaders and Project Managers care for their personnel Excellent Health and Dental Insurance Tuition Assistance based on total time of employment If a contract is lost you will still be paid until a place on a different contract is found Promotes lots of inclusion in diversity and zero tolerance for anything less

      Cons

Massive overhead means limited pay increase Pay, Position, and College Degree are heavily tied together Without a degree or many years of experience there can be no expectation of movement up the career ladder Project Managers are mostly out of touch with employees working on defense contracts and sometimes no experience in defense as they are hired off the basis of having a business degree leading to client distrust

Cutthroat Empires | Beware Recent Grads | Worsening Benefits

      Hsi analyst
      Former employee
      Dayton, OH
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - There are a few good Leaders there. Not many, but a few. - Most "Worker Bees" are nice and generally pretty smart. - Lots of opportunities if you're in a field that is "HOT" right now. - They have a "Bench" for you to sit on in between contracts. - Benefits were okay. Medical was decent. - Provides employees with opportunities to interface and network with folks in the Federal Government, which could potentially result in a Federal Job with both a Pension and 401K.

      Cons

      - Some Leaders in Middle Management are terrible and personally vindictive. A lot of them lack vision and are not very bright. But, then again, I guess that's why they're in Middle Management. - If you're not bringing in money (i.e., business / contracts), they will let you go, especially for people in Leadership positions (Senior Associate and above). - Their organizational hierarchy is a mess and poorly structured, which they're changing constantly at the top. - If you're at a high enough level, they'll assign you to be a "Career Manager" for someone without compensation for the extra responsibility. - Their intranet is atrocious and often out of date. - If you're in a niche field, expect to struggle to find work if what you do is not "in fashion" right now. - If you're starting out, negotiate for a higher salary. They will take advantage of recent grads, which will determine your salary for years to come. - Their "401K" matching might look nice on first glance, but they do it annually, so you don't get the compound interest that other 401Ks do in almost every other reputable business, particularly their competitors. - Every quarter they report and brag about record profits, but somehow the premiums for Medical and Dental keep going up.
