Unreasonable workload, overly metricized role with the metrics changing every few months making expectations complex to understand, your manager can make or break your experience here - some managers create a toxic work environment, the pressure of the role can take a mental toll on you. Despite the cons, I would recommend the role because of the salary alone and industry knowledge if you are interested in CRE- you need to be very disciplined to succeed in the role and autonomous.

they fly you to richmond for two weeks and pay most expenses which is cool, job is very easy. the pay is decent, benefits are also decent, work life is also good.

if this is your only opportunity take it. this is not a real 'research' job. its where uber meets data entry. you drive around in an obnoxious and embarrasing looking costar wrapped car, TRESSPASSING into buildings. you report the tenants inside buildings. people think its weird and its hard to explain. If you decide not to tresspass, you will not hit your metrics and youre suceptible to a layoff. They train you in one way, and weekly seem to change up SOPs. So its not uncommon to fail an assignment due to a sudden 'change' in SOPs. Again, another excuse for the HR department to lay you off. The field research department gets rehired and cut every 3-4 years or so. So dont plan on this JOB being a career. you will not work at a desk, so youll be eating at gas stations (and using the bathroom there.) If youre a social person this job is not for you. You can go days without speaking to anyone else at work. Ive never met most of the people in my market.

Micromanagement like you would not believe. Always increasing production expectations. Company car can not be used for anything other than to and from appointments. The company car has a camera that watches you 24/7.

Most corporations have decent benefits, a clean office with free coffee and some treadmills in an on-site gym. CoStar has that and even throws in some free bananas and crackers with it. But that's about as far as the pros go. Oh, and there are a lot of good people throughout the company.

Worked here for a chunk of years and earned promotions, top performance reviews and good esteem among colleagues and management across several departments. And then one day CoStar threw me and my entire department out like dogs in a moment's notice for no good reason. Having reported directly to CEO Andy Florance at times, I can tell you that most everything negative about the company rolls downhill from there. He's petty and prone to wild mood swings that make him uneasy to be around and make those reporting to him, including the HR department, cold and spineless. He dictates every aspect of the company and can not let go. Just look at the inane super bowl commercials that he put himself in. (With his name on the champagne bottle. How narcissistic can you get?) All amid layoffs to help pay for it. Plus, seeing it from the inside, I can tell you that the entire Homes.com operations is unsustainable.

Underneath the beautiful exterior lies a dark corporate interior that has no compassion for employees. The Company focuses on filling the Data points and goals. Turnover is very high because people get there and realize that “all that glitters is not gold.” The CEO has a massive ego and is catered to by all his sycophants.
