What is the hiring process like at DaVita?

      DaVita reviews

Worst place EVER in 20+ years of Nursing!!!

      Pros

Honestly, I've never done one of these reviews, but this place is so bad I have nothing positive to say about it and I wouldn't ever want another one of my colleagues to work for this company so I decided to leave this review. In my experience, there were no Pros working for DaVita!

      Cons

Everything! They hired me and immediately changed my salary after I was hired, stating they had "quoted me the wrong salary". Then, the 10 weeks of orientation I was supposed to get got cut down to 3 weeks because they are so short staffed they said they "had no choice" but to put me out on the floor and bc I was an experienced RN (20yrs plus in nursing but NEVER any dialysis experience), and when I brought up to management several times that I didn't feel comfortable running patients by myself, they insisted every single time and told upper management I had received the total comprehensive orientation I was supposed to receive. When I challenged them on this, they produced a forged document where someone else had signed my name that showed a checklist with all the things I was supposed to learn in orientation and each one was checked off/signed off by a preceptor that I never even MET!!! When I told them it was forged, their solution was to transfer me to another clinic. I got transferred 3 different times before I was told I had to go back on orientation which was fine with me bc I was insisting I receive a real orientation from the beginning. The 3 weeks I did get was with someone who was still on orientation herself, which makes no sense whatsoever. Only problem was when they put me back on orientation finally, then my hours were cut. Was never told during hiring process that DaVita considers full time employees at 31 hrs per week instead of the usual 36. I was lucky if i barely got 20 hrs a week for full time. I explained I couldn't live on that kind of paycheck and was told they "were cutting everyone's hours" because every facility was over budget and paying for too many staff members to be on the floor. Funny because I always worked short staffed every single day. Always short on Techs so the nurse was required to run a pod by themselves, putting pts on and off the machine, while still passing meds and doing all the assessments, med recs, post assessments, lab tube spinning and shipping, calling patients to schedule, etc...for a clinic of over 22 patients on the floor at one time...with only ONE nurse! Its dangerous and reckless and they couldn't care LESS about their patients or their staff. The only thing the care about is the bottom dollar amount they are spending each day and trying to figure out a way to increase that amount at the expense of their patient's safety and their nurses' licenses. Its horrible. I came there excited to work for a Nation-wide company with so many "good" benefits, or so it seemed. I left in tears vowing I would tell everyone I could so no one else would go through what I went through. In the process of collecting unemployment from them even though I quit at will. But because they were so negligent in my training and made it such a hostile work environment, I was awarded with such. DO NOT ever go work for them. Plus the pay is significantly sub par and isn't even close to what I was quoted during the interview process already so its impossible to make a living wage working for them to begin with. Stay away!!!

      Pros

The benefits seem to be good.

      Cons

I wanted to bring to your attention an issue I encountered during my recent interview process with your company. We had scheduled an initial phone call at a mutually agreed-upon time. However, I waited for 10 minutes past the scheduled time without receiving a call from the recruiter. Shortly thereafter, I received a text from the recruiter requesting to reschedule, mentioning that it had been a hectic day and that the recruiter had intended to send a reschedule request earlier. I found this experience to be quite unprofessional and unsatisfactory. I would greatly appreciate it if the company could review their interview process and ensure that such miscommunication does not occur in the future. Constructive and timely communication is crucial for both parties involved to ensure a smooth and efficient hiring process.

      Cons

If you're an introvert, you're not welcome in "the Village." They hope to screen you out during the hiring process, but if they're unsuccessful, they hope you'll voluntarily leave before they must force you out.

      Pros

It’s remote. Some teams are great. I felt valued at first until I needed real support.

      Cons

Not all teams are created equal. Management will throw you under the bus if they need to. They will have 1 on 1’s with you and tell you you’re doing great and then all of the sudden you’re fired for “multiple incidents” when you were the top performer that was highly regarded by the hiring managers you worked with. Oh- and they’ll do it before they have to pay you out on your bonus. Thanks. Shady. Favoritism is apparent. They still owe me $600 in fees I spent that they should have reimbursed me for.

      Pros

Work from home (double monitor set-up, so you're set put at your home office, cannot work from "anywhere"). Weekly pay.

      Cons

I was contracted through DaVita, and they cut my contract without any prior issues or communication, & without letting me finish my assignment, which I thought was extremely unprofessional. I was told it was because there "wasn't enough work" but the fact that they kept creating projects when I turned everything in early determined that was a lie, I wonder if they told the other 12 new hires the same thing. How can they get away with blatant lying? To get this job, I needed a drug test, interview after interview (sometimes virtual panel), background check, three references that would be sent a survey, paperwork after paperwork, personality test, etc. Not sure if this is DaVita or recruitment, They requested no time off or vacations for the duration of my contract, all for the most basic, entry level position out there that barely pays the bills. You would think they would be hiring a CEO. I was well liked, was highly active on my team and always finished what was assigned to me; they let me go out of nowhere. I still have a card that was signed and given to me by my leads telling me how much of an asset I was to the team and how much they appreciate my hard work, then laid me off a week later during “Week of Kindness” Lol. Not fake at all. I was so dedicated to my new role that there was one Friday that all training for the week was due, and I wasn’t notified, and I stayed after for hours finishing, being late for plans I already had, just to show my dedication to my new role. Numerous times I mentioned how I would love to be promoted within and move up if I was hired full-time; full of enthusiasm and dedication. Let us not forget I was also the only person who dressed up on the first day of orientation. I felt like the people hired after me were treated better and did not have as high of standards placed on them. Micromanaging galore. A certain point of contact was really a personal cheerleader, they did not help me when I had any real questions, the constant phrase told to me was "You got this!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and then expected me to figure out the rest. The same person put herself into every situation and conversation imaginable when she didn’t need to be, crossed lines, continually confusing everyone involved and she set everyone back. For being there for more than 15 years, they were extremely immature in the messages they sent, adding numerous, repetitive letters to words when it was not necessary, as if we were in the 7th grade. At one time, that same person took a personal call when we were scheduled to have a meeting, and for almost 10 minutes she put herself on mute and kept me waiting while she was on the phone. When they cut my contract, DaVita acted like I had some sort of incurable disease. I was told not to contact them, not have any sort of outside relationship with them going further, and I didn’t hear from them personally or get a real explanation or closure from THEM as to why I was let go so ruthlessly. If I needed to say anything, I had to go through recruitment. They will literally push you into the sea without a life jacket and not care whatsoever. They laid me off but expected ME to bring all the equipment back to the head office as soon as possible... as if they didn’t just ruin my life. You don’t know who to work with if you’re contract – recruiters tell you to ask them any questions, but if you do, they don’t know anything and tell you to ask your managers at DaVita. Lol Info in job description was falsely advertised; DaVita boasted a flexible work start time, but it wasn’t until you were hired that they had preferred hours they wanted you to work. They don’t like it when you work with other new teammates, either. Training needs a better workflow. What they teach you will go from 0 to 100 quickly, you will get lost and confused. Low wages for the workload – they claim “more than just pay” in their benefits because they can barely pay an affordable wage. High expectations to get more work done than capable. EXTREMELY high turnover rate. You can tell management always talks. You're just someone who can knock out accounts. They don't invest in their employees, or else they would let you finish training first before firing you for no just cause, and then start all over again with a new hire. I can guarantee they read all your personal messages too. Since I left, my same position has been posted more than 16 times in 3 months, most recently 6 separate job posting of the same position in less than a few days - I wonder who else they laid off. They drastically reduced the qualifications for the role too; now you don’t need any healthcare experience! I think it’s safe to say I wasn’t the problem – they just don’t know what in God's name they’re doing. I have always been a top candidate in every position I’ve had, so I don’t know what they’re looking for at this point. All around this place is an unprofessional, revolving door and they act like they can "do no wrong" but will act like you're the problem for anything and release you for it. RUN!!!!!

While interviewing with the company, the recruiter never got back to me on the status of my application. I always had to contact them for updates after each interview. 3 weeks after conducting my virtual interview, I received a rejection email. Lacked the professional courtesy to call or create a personalized note for someone that has invested several hours in the interview process. A reflection of their culture. Also, compensation package I was quoted was ~50k lower than I was making at previous job. This behavior is a reflection of their culture - glad to not be working for them.
