How is the office food at IBM?

      IBM reviews

Below average salaries, no career growth, chaotic management

      Procurement specialist
      Former employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Supportive work environment - Collaboration with colleague across multiple countries and regions - Initial home office with one day per week in the office - An amazing palette of free and valuable trainings - both from IBM and other vendors - Cheaper Multisport card than average - Bluepoints for employee recognition that can be used in IBM's internal marketplace for merchandise and experiences

      Cons

      - Salaries far below the average for the sector - Constant threats from higher management to either come back to the office or leave IBM since March 2023 - Local management decided to change the office location from Business Park to the fields next to Sofia airport (extremely inconvenient for all modes of transportation) - No viable career growth opportunities even if you actively search for them - No food vouchers or free coffee in the office in comparison to other companies - Less options for lunch at the new office location

      Pros

      * Stable job, good pay initially when you switch from other company to IBM. * Opportunity to learn and grow

      Cons

      * Annual hike is not great (usually less than 10%, and promotions takes longer timeframe like 3-4 years) * No remote working (It's hybrid) * No free food and snacks from the company, we can see this kind of meals, snacks from the office for free in few IT companies. * No office busses to commute to your location. Buses will drop only to nearest metro station to office.

      Pros

Working at IBM as an intern was a great experience, perhaps mostly because it was my first relevant experience in the field. The team I worked in and my supervisor were helful and nice. I received a welcome package with IBM merch on the start of my internship. I thought that was nice! There were also some events that were organized amongst team memebers, or company-wide like barbecue, launch events etc.

      Cons

There's a canteen/kitchen that serves lunch everyday. While the food was usually good, I guess I expected it to be covered by IBM since I imagined it a big company, but you pay for the lunch if you eat there, or it is taken out of the salary at the month's end. (Note that I subconscoiusly placed IBM on a similar level as Google, Meta, and the likes, where food and other resources in the office are usually free).

      - Great place to start your career. - I got to work with relatively smart coworkers. (They were definitely . smarter than me.) - I got to experience working with relatively large code bases, database development, (Operating Systems and Distributed Systems courses really helped a lot.) - You gotta be good at C/C++/Python/Perl.

      Cons

      - Snacks are not as good as other FAANG companies :) - Had to write tests in Perl :( - Compile times might take longer than 10-20 mins sometimes.
