      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Annual salary increase - Good pension, life insurance and other perks - Staff discount which at times increases to 20% (e.g. Christmas time) - Depending on where you work, you can make friends for life

      Cons

      - Can be very challenging, specially weekends - Hours can be long and varying from very early (5 am) to very late (past 11pm) - Break times are very short, only 30 mnts. This is frustrating specially when you're doing a long shift (e.g. 7 am til 5 pm)

      Pros

Competitive Pay and Benefits Lidl is known for offering competitive wages compared to other retailers. In some regions, they provide higher-than-average starting salaries, bonuses, and benefits such as health insurance and pension plans. Clear Career Progression Lidl offers structured career advancement opportunities. Employees can start in entry-level roles and progress to managerial positions with proper training and performance. Comprehensive Training The company provides thorough onboarding and continuous training programs, which help employees develop skills in retail, customer service, and management. Dynamic and Fast-Paced Environment For those who thrive in a high-energy setting, Lidl’s fast-paced work environment can be exciting and rewarding. Job Stability Working for a large, successful international company provides a sense of job security and stability. Teamwork and Collaboration Lidl emphasizes teamwork, fostering a collaborative work environment where employees often support each other. Employee Discounts In many regions, Lidl offers discounts or perks for their employees, making it more affordable to shop at their stores.

      Cons

High Workload and Physical Demands The fast-paced environment can be physically demanding, especially in roles that involve stocking shelves, unloading deliveries, or working in the warehouse. Irregular Work Hours Employees may be required to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or holidays, which can disrupt work-life balance. High Expectations and Pressure Lidl sets high performance standards, which may result in pressure to meet sales targets, maintain store appearance, or handle customer complaints efficiently. Limited Breaks Some employees report having short or infrequent breaks due to the busy nature of the work. Customer-Facing Challenges Like any retail job, dealing with difficult or demanding customers can be stressful. Repetitive Tasks Certain roles may involve routine tasks, which could become monotonous over time for some individuals. Limited Flexibility in Scheduling Depending on the store’s needs, employees might have limited control over their schedules, which could be challenging for those with other commitments.

      Great beginner job!

      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Great work environment, yearly raise, good benefits and compensation. Room for overtime and promotions.

      Cons

Can get repetitive in the work; putting up the truck, cash register, bakery. Do not get stuck in one department, cross train and ask to move around. There’s frequent changes in planograms of the aisle and can be frustrating for customers. For managers there are no set schedules which is the biggest con, makes it hard to have a work life balance.
