      Pros

Work life balance is pretty good due to overtime not being demanded most of the time.

      Cons

Tools can be outdated. Restraints or extensive timeline to improve processes due to DOD requirements. Company cares more about time in the field than individuals contribution to the team and company making merit promotions rare.

      Fort Worth, TX
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good compensation and benefits. Work life balance has been good with opportunities for overtime.

LM treats people well, but can be slow

      Senior software engineer
      Current employee
      Palmdale, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Decent pay and benefits Remote work is an option if your work is unclassified LOTS of flexibility. As a well-established employee, I can generally work whenever/wherever I want as long as I reach 40 hrs/week Work/life balance is valued, working overtime is rare Lateral moves are encouraged and easy. If you want to try a different role, different program, or different branch of the company, you usually can Management is forgiving and generally accomodating of those with disabilities or special needs, but ymmv

      Cons

Sometimes management is too forgiving, people who cause problems for others aren't always dealt with Upward mobility can be difficult, it's important to advocate for yourself and make friends in high places Red tape can get in the way

      Slow Defense Industry

      Applications engineer
      Former employee
      Fort Worth, TX
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good people to work with, incredibly interesting technologies, amazing production facility. Once you're hired, moving around internally is very easy and strongly supported. Great benefits but pay was slightly lower than average given years of experience. Work life balance was excellent with paid overtime for salary workers.

      Cons

Very dated offices, miles and miles of red tape. Very hard to learn the different teams and business structure as someone coming from outside Defense.

Lots of opportunities and great work life balance

      Senior electromechanical engineer
      Current employee
      Denver, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

There are many opportunities for learning new skills and working stretch assignments. The worklife balance is great as there are government contracts that restrict overtime.

      Cons

Slow growth if you want to stay in the same area

      Good Company to start

      Software engineer 1
      Current employee
      King of Prussia, PA
      Recommend
      CEO approval

      Pros

Great company to start with. Bolsters resume with clearances and can be matched with team for your skillset or branch to learn other skills

      Cons

no overtime pay, hours just accumulate for the following week

Good company for middle career, not so great for technical growth

      Systems engineer sr
      Current employee
      Boulder, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good Work-Life balance (project dependent) Stable work (if you're on a long-running project, IRADs may differ) Nice coworkers (location dependent) Great 401K match

      Cons

Technically behind (i.e. always 5-6 years behind industry standard practices, tools, equipment) Comp time policy actively deters working over 40 hours, even when forced to by management PTO program not noteworthy "Top Performer" bump largely dependent on who you know and who knows you, rather than your actual work output Lackluster bonus (4%, which is totally dependent on sector financial goals rather than individual performance)

      Good benefits

      Business Outlook

      Pros

-Functional manager helped as much as was possible. -Immediate team was able to lean on each other.

      Cons

-Massive scope creep due to program management having no spine and accepting every ask while pressuring for constant overtime. -Constantly changing program expectations/requirements. -Toxic culture bragging about 60 hour weeks while error rates shot through the roof. -Ridiculous amounts of meetings with 20+ people and nothing getting solved/resolved. -No respect for work/life balance.
