Garbage Leadership -- PE has gutted this company!

      Pros

None, literally nothing is worth working for this company.

      Cons

Layoff 4/3/2024 confirmed! Leadership refuses to tell us how many people they cut and what their package was. Did webinar style firings so they didn't have to answer questions or deal with anyone. My guess is close to 300 to 400 employees probably more just knowing there was at least 1 person from everything single team I am aware of that got let go. Low pay -- especially for women. New PE has slashed any benefits, removed promotions and there are no cost of living increases anymore. Refuse to answer any questions about replacement for RSUs because there is no replacement for them and they just don't want to say that. Completely gutted entire C-suite to all India folks and are offshoring anyone and everyone they can. No one's job is safe at this company. In the firing all hands they specifically told us to not post on this site or blind or any socials about it.

      Pros

      - Great Work Culture : Collaborative and supportive work environment with opportunities for professional growth. - Innovative Projects : Being a leader in observability tools, employees get to work on cutting-edge technologies. - Flexible Working Conditions : Emphasis on work-life balance, including remote work options, is a frequently mentioned perk. - Employee Benefits : Competitive salaries, great health benefits, and equity options are appreciated. - Career Opportunities : There is room to grow into leadership roles and make significant contributions as a Lead Software Engineer.

      Cons

      - Sometimes has to work late but again that can be in any company as business demands.

A Once Great Company, Now a Shell of Its Former Self

While New Relic offers some perks like free lunches and a decent benefits package, the overall experience has been mixed. The office location and facilities staff are great, but other aspects of the company culture and work environment leave much to be desired.

      Cons

I'm disheartened to witness the rapid decline of New Relic. Once a thriving and innovative workplace, it has transformed into a toxic environment plagued by uncertainty and poor leadership. Frequent layoffs have created a climate of fear and anxiety. The company has slashed essential benefits, including professional development opportunities and well-being initiatives. A significant portion of roles are being offshored to India, limiting career advancement for US-based employees. The leadership team seems more focused on short-term gains and buzzword-driven strategies than on long-term product vision and employee morale. A once vibrant and supportive culture has deteriorated, with many talented individuals leaving due to poor management and demoralizing practices. It's truly disheartening to see such a promising company take this negative trajectory. I urge potential candidates to carefully consider the current state of affairs before accepting a position at New Relic.

Management is driving out talented people

      Engineering manager

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Some of the best and brightest people work here. Very high caliber engineers and programmers. Good benefits and the work is cutting-edge. A lot of out-of-the-box thinking and solutions. You will learn a lot working here.

      Cons

There has been a significant amount of changes in management, even before the company went private, and this trend is expected to continue, which is normal for any organization. However, New Relic is still grappling with appropriate priority setting and attempts too many initiatives simultaneously, which makes it incredibly challenging to complete anything. Additionally, if anyone is even slightly critical or speaks up, it puts a target on them, and they are considered a threat. The VPs and directors micromanage their employees and are not adept at managing people, which is leading to the departure of good talent. Expect layoffs every year and sometimes twice a year.
