Does New York Life offer relocation assistance?

Pros

Incredible people, encourage promotion within, flexible with hours, commuting, great benefits package, tuition reimbursement, continuing ed payments. I honestly can't say enough good things. Their current CEO and President started as an actuarial intern in the 90's, and none of his family had previously worked there. ZERO nepotism went into it. Simply incredible.

Cons

Some people love what they do so much, they stay in the same position for a long time. So it's important to realize that you are responsible for your own career. Some managers will push you forward, while others will be content to keep you if you are highly skilled. Another benefit is their internal mobility program, which all employees are eligible to apply for after a full year of employment.

Advice to Management

Keep being amazing.

Does New York Life have a pension plan?

Pros

Good benefits: 401k, pension, decent tuition reimbursement, student loan assistance, gym, clinic, cafeteria, etc. Very good job security, I've never seen anyone be fired or let go. Seems like a good place to work towards the end of your career, rather than as a young person.

Cons

No opportunity for growth since employees stick around for decades. Not a lot of diversity or women in management which is very disappointing. A lot of office politics which can be exhausting. NYC Home Office's culture is generally friendly, but it feels forced and surface level. The company is very slow moving to implement changes and is usually years behind competitors. Senior management is extremely risk averse, which can be good or bad depending on how you look at it.
