      Pros

flexible schedule, great benefits, company car and maintenance,

      Cons

higher management doesn't have a clue what goes on to day to day, management does not give clear answers to questions asked during midwest meetings, no work life balance, layoffs are looming over your head, no stability, this used to be a great company until it was bought by hedgefund and everything was sent to india

      High demands and instability

      Business Outlook

      Pros

flexible schedule, team outing/dinner, company events and travel, commission, interesting product, and you'll meet skillful people in this company/industry

      Cons

Flexible schedule means extensive working hours, high demand low support type of job, massive lay offs, lot of changes in direction and management, leadership changes every quarter resulting in inconsistent action plan then when the action fails the accountability always falls to front lines putting their jobs at risk. demanding job with such a low support. overall headache and a humiliation ritual.

      Pros

good parental leave and PTO. A true work hard, play hard environment

      Cons

No roadmap, no job security, current leadership seems to be driving the company into the ground

      Stay Away

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The ability to work remote, decent medical benefit plans to pick from,

      Cons

This company is very much DEI oriented. The public has NO INTEREST IN PARTICIPATION! The incentive offered is not worth what Households are put through and they are about to decrease it. Nielsen is not competitive anymore. Constant change, layoffs, jobs being sent overseas, departments have been dismantled sent to other countries where employees are totally clueless, quality of the equipment and support has declined since the company was acquired by this private equity firm who cares nothing about workers.

good in the past, now avoid

      Business analyst
      Current employee

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

-good work culture prior to offshoring and layoffs in the last year -good work-life balance -good team and department -well-known company

      Cons

      - low pay for industry -distant and disorganized upper management - many, many waves of offshoring and layoffs. If the job is in the US, it's reasonable to assume it'll be offshored in the near future to a GCC -morale and company culture is next to nothing now I used to recommend Nielsen to my network and friends but now I would strongly avoid.

      7

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Work life balance is good

      Cons

constant layoff and offshoring US roles oversea, no promotions

      2

      Toxic leadership and frequent layoff

      Product manager
      Former employee
      Bengaluru
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Global brand name looks good on the resume. - Exposure to international processes and clients

      Cons

      - Toxic culture with frequent layoffs, even for employees with 10–15+ years of service - Leadership lacks real leadership skills; VPs hold no authority and only follow SVPs’ instructions - Toxic Indian management behaves like short-sighted startup leaders, focused more on politics and cost-cutting than employee welfare - Employees recruited by the old leadership team were let go unfairly after management reshuffles - Heavy bias toward top-tier colleges, ignoring skilled talent from other institutes - Employee welfare and career growth are not priorities; morale is consistently low.

      Formerly Great, Now in Trouble

      People analytics manager
      Current employee
      Knoxville, TN
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Flexible schedule, work remotely, unlimited PTO. The culture used to be great, but is now terrible.

      Cons

The company was bought by a private equity firm and has had 2 rounds of major layoffs (10% of the work force) in the last year and is now in the process of transitioning a large portion of roles offshore. Also, this company has historically paid less than other companies for similar roles.

      10

Sadly, not the time to be employed by Nielsen.

      Product manager
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Nielsen is a fully remote, global company. You get the opportunity to work with cross-functional teams in over 45 different countries. Extremely precious and valuable data and insights surround you and you're challenged to solve problems for the world's biggest advertisers and media sellers.

      Cons

The company went under private equity ownership in late 2022. As a result, 2023 was a year filled with restructuring, cost cutting, layoffs, and no raises, promotions or travel. Over the course of 2024, the company will be laying off and offshoring the vast majority of its US workforce to low cost labor markets. In the US, Nielsen's pay is roughly 25-30% below market value depending on the position. Many employees have historically stayed at Nielsen for many years because they've been given growth opportunities and autonomy to tackle really interesting business problems. But with the private equity ownership and mass layoffs and offshoring, growth opportunities have fizzled and there is a lot of pressure to prove you're making an impact and should remain employed. I would advise against joining Nielsen for the next couple years as the business remains very unstable. And as with many PE buyouts, the company will likely soon get resold or broken up into pieces and divested.
