What is working from home like at Orkin?

      Pros

Work from home, no manager micro manages you, you can make your own check with the commission

      Cons

Don’t get paid when internet or power outages happen and the attendance points counts against you when you miss work due to internet/power outages

Supportive management, but challenging work-life balance

      Pros

Company provided vehicle and phone. Support from management and encouragement to grow. Commission is solid, employee stock program, and commission from misc. sales.

      Cons

Work life balance is tough depending on your route and how far from home the area you cover is. If you have long drives, it can take a toll on your back.

      Pros

Work from home is the only pro..

      Cons

You are nothing but a number, Super micro managed, Most people here have never been in pest control. Management is clue less about actually trying to help, all they care about is their numbers and bottom line. You'll never know how much youll get paid. No cost of living increases. Dont recommend. I hope higher up managment gets their head out their behind and actually care about their employees. You take 50-60 calls a day with someone hounding you as to why you stopped working for more than 2 minutes because the company has calls waiting.

      Pros

Work from home would be the only pro

      Cons

No health insurance, no benefits, Micromanagement, monitored constantly, no paid time off, worked till 10pm, weekends. I was a top rep and would finish top 3 each month on a team of 25+ reps. Management constantly monitors your calls. My supervisor would constantly pull me into meetings and nitpick my calls. They’re very strict what you can and can’t say. You need to close 60% of your calls, sell a certain amount of mosquitos and a lot other metrics you have to hit. I hit all my metrics and I still would get micromanaged with anything and everything even with bathroom breaks. You start out as a SEASONAL but that doesn’t guarantee you a permanent position. I wasn’t offered a permanent position and I was a top rep. Others I started with were low performing and they got offered permanent positions. Nepotism is VERY REAL here. My advice is either don’t take the job if you already have something good or it’s a in-between job till you find something better.

      Pros

Decent commission and hourly pay. Work from home. Great training program to start. Best PTO program I have ever seen for a sales company.

      Cons

Super micro management. Management by threat of CA and PIPS on a regular basis. They tell you what to sell, like mosquito in the winter. If you don't meet that % then you are gone quickly. This pushes many to cheat and now the place is a revolving door of people just looking for their next job. This used to be a profession and now it is a pass through job that you keep until you find something better. They push this Ethos stuff but apparently forgot to read it. Orkin was a company many of us were very proud to be a part of, and now it is like working for a timeshare sales company. If you are not a super pushy sales person and you have a soul or a conscious then this place is not for you. I ran out of fingers and toes trying to count all of the agents and managers that have actually gotten sick from working here. You better get that high dollar insurance quickly to pay for you blood pressure pills and start saving for that heart attack and stroke. When your center has your best year ever they reward you all by lowering your commissions as a bonus. For 3 YEARS STRAIGHT!!!! But no one will remeber that soon, because they seem to intentionally be forcing tenured people out to replace with scape goats that will drink the koolaid long enough to put up some bs numbers before being fired.

      Pros

They always have work if you want it

      Cons

They will work you more then most would feel to be reasonable. Never know when your day ends as add ons is common and often without notice. Management believes on speaking half truths, leaving out the known negatives to get you to t ifhink/believe and intentionally lead you down a false but choosen path. It's money first here people as it publicly traded and stockholders matter much more then you ever will. Not much quality of home life as they will sap all you have during your 10-12 hour days.
