      Prudential

      Manager, project management
      Former employee
      Newark, NJ
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

People, overall pay, great benefits including pension

      Cons

Constant layoffs. Pretty much every year there are cuts.

      Excellent Benefits & Work-Life Balance

      Business Outlook

      Pros

They run on a 37.5 hour work week which you might not think makes a difference, but it really does change everything. The benefits are immeasurable including great time off, a fairly flexible work schedule (depending on department), decent health benefits and excellent retirement.

      Cons

The culture overall was pretty good, but it depends on who you’re working with. I struggled with feeling connected because I was an outsider starting with people who had been there for at least a decade or more.

      Depraved Culture

      Director
      Former employee
      Newark, NJ
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Prudential offers a good benefits package, great vacation time and work-from-home opportunities.

      Cons

The work culture at Prudential was depraved. It was common for people to have excess liquor at lunch. Extramarital affairs between staff members occurred. Female executives were known to speak to and touch younger male associates in aggressive and inappropriate ways.

      Stable job, deteriorating benefits

      Anonymous employee
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Relatively stable job with healthy work-life balance.

      Cons

Several new teammates are being offered PTO packages with substantially less PTO than what was offered over the past few years to new hires, and it appears that benefits are being clawed back with the recent org restructure.

      Technology rotation associate
      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

It's a good corporate job with good benefits and friendly office culture. People of all ages work here.

      Cons

Lots of efforts to grow/incorporate technology within the organization, but it takes luck to be placed into an interesting team vs something with legacy tech. Also the pay is good, but not top-tier.

      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good Benefit and work from home

      Cons

Heavy workload and low salary increment

Strong work-life balance, but slow processes and pay concerns

      Senior software engineer
      Current employee
      Newark, NJ
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Strong work-life balance compared to many tech companies. Supportive team culture with opportunities to work on modern technologies like AWS, Node.js, React, Docker, and cloud infrastructure. Management generally trusts engineers to own projects and contribute ideas. Good benefits, stable environment, and strong internal mobility for career growth. Great place to build experience while working on large-scale enterprise systems.

      Cons

Engineering processes can sometimes feel slow due to the size of the organization and multiple approval layers. Legacy systems and corporate bureaucracy can occasionally delay development speed and innovation. Compensation growth for engineers may not always keep pace with the broader tech market, especially compared to top-tier tech companies.

      Lots of Transition

      Vice president
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The company offers a competitive total rewards package, with competitive compensation and benefits that are a meaningful part of the employee value proposition.

      Cons

Significant transition and recurring layoffs contributed to a culture of instability. Despite strong performance and loyalty, many employees did not feel secure in their roles
