What are perks and other benefits like at Riot Games?

      Riot Games reviews

I’m starting to question why I joined this company… I feel really sad. This is how I feel after three years here

      Anonymous contractor
      Current contractor

      Pros

Culture-wise, for the first two years I really loved this company — because it inspired people, had a good culture, good people to talk to, always encouraged communication, collaboration, and personal growth. If you’re a full-time employee, the benefits are great and the pay is good. If you’re a contractor, the pay is okay but there are no other benefits

      Cons

This year I really don’t know why I’m still here. Many times, even when I talk to my manager, I might get zero response. Of course, when I talk to other people about work, same problem also. After the re-org, I slowly don’t understand what is my value in this org anymore. Even though I got very clear scope, does anyone actually care what I contribute to the company? If nobody cares, then what’s the point of my existence here? I keep needing to prove my value again and again, instead of just showing it. Honestly, if you look closely, the company is very wired. It’s more friendly towards people in AMER. But if you are outside of US, you can never really join the relevant meetings (unless you sacrifice your whole night’s sleep). And many times, you don’t even get any answer at all. I’m so sad for myself.

      Cons

When you work at Riot and play Riot Games, it's hard to separate your personal and work lives. Post-lay offs our work load has increased without any increase in pay or benefits.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good benefits, good work-life balance most of year, learning opportunities in your craft

      Cons

Promotion opportunities and performance standards are very different depending on the team. Insights discipline have a much higher bar than most, which is used as an excuse to block promotions unless you can walk over water.

Poor Work-Life balance but overall positive environment

      Esports

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good benefits, great team members, great colleagues and wonderful supportive environment. Travel and experiences and camaraderies was great.

      Cons

Working in esports means you could be working almost 24/7. Company is flexible enough for you to take time off as you need but esports is a round-the-clock department and you almost don't even have time to even find time off. Messy leadership and management structure. Small teams and insanely high workload.
