      Sam's Club reviews

      Good pay and benefits

      Personal shopper
      Former employee
      Burleson, TX
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The pay is relatively competitive, higher than most retail jobs and the benefits are also great IF you're full time or have been employed part time for a full year.

      Cons

They have fully implemented their points system, tardiness and call-outs rack up points and at 5 points you will be terminated without question (unless you are close with the owner or higher management, who overturn points in the system).

      Very Unorganized Management

      Current employee
      Jackson, TN
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

There are a lot of benefits to choose from and full time employees get a block schedule.

      Cons

Managers are unorganized and our current team lead acts like everything is a joke. People are lazy and don’t care about their work so nothing gets done right. We’ve lost alot of good people because of it.

      Pros

Straightforward Work: The job involves simple tasks like stocking shelves, organizing products, and keeping the store neat. It’s easy to learn and doesn’t require advanced skills, making it accessible for most people. Teamwork and Camaraderie: Many employees enjoy a sense of teamwork and support from coworkers, which can create a friendly, family-like atmosphere and make the workday more pleasant. Physical Activity: If you like staying active, this role keeps you moving—lifting, walking, and organizing—rather than sitting at a desk all day. Benefits and Perks: Sam's Club provides solid benefits, including health insurance, a 401(k) with a 6% match, merchandise discounts, and a free membership, which add value especially for full-time workers. Opportunities for Advancement: There’s potential to grow within the company, with some employees noting that about 20,000 associates get promoted annually to higher roles.

      Cons

Physically Demanding: The job requires heavy lifting, bending, and standing for long hours, which can be tiring and may lead to physical strain or injury over time. Understaffing and Workload: Frequent understaffing means you might face overwhelming workloads, extra tasks, and pressure to meet tough expectations, adding to daily stress. Management Issues: Poor management is a common gripe—think favoritism, lack of support, or unrealistic demands—which can make the job frustrating or demoralizing. Low Pay for the Workload: While starting pay might be decent, many feel it doesn’t match the physical effort and responsibilities, especially compared to other roles in the store. Stressful Environment: High expectations, tough customers, and multitasking—especially during busy times—can make the job stressful and hard to handle. Inadequate Training: Some workers say they’re thrown in with little training, making it tough to learn the ropes and meet demands right away. Scheduling Challenges: Hours can be inconsistent or hard to balance with personal life, especially with early mornings or late nights, even if some find the flexibility helpful.

      fast-paced position with good pay

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good pay, good benefits, paid time off, breaks and lunches

      Cons

Overworked due to being both shoppers and dispensers

Good pay but poor management communication

      Rotisserie/hms
      Current employee
      Castle Rock, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Good pay, less stressful than many kitchen jobs, guaranteed break times no matter what, good benefits

      Cons

Communicating with managers is almost impossible. There are too many managers, and they are unaware of what the other ones do. The lead who writes my schedule changes constantly and I get a schedule that doesnt even make sense Ill go a week or more without seeing them (Different shifts they are at another store etc) and when I finally do talk to them they tell me to ignore what the app says. When I do that it dings me on points that affect how much PTO i accrue.

      Headache

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Benefits are decent pay is decent compared to other retails

      Cons

Any level of leadership needs improving. Quick to keep poor performing associates, including those in higher positions, but quick to let good workers go.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      * Extra food from cafeteria was put in the break room * Friendly co-workers (same level)

      Cons

*Rude and unforgiving management * Poor working environment *Overworked like crazy * Really no benefits other than you getting a sam's club membership, no discounts or anything bc "already a discount warehouse" They expect you to work like 10 positions because at the time it was understaffed, get mad at you for every little thing despite how hard you are working. I was worked almost 40 hours despite being labled as "part-time", was too young at the time to understand.

Worst company I have ever worked for!

      Home meals & rotisserie

      Business Outlook

      Pros

You get a free Plus Membership as an employee.

      Cons

They hire 90% of the staff for part time but work them full time so they don’t have to pay for employee benefits. Worst management I have ever worked for in my entire career! No one has a health card but you prepare food all day. Constant cross contamination of raw to cooked foods especially in the rotisserie dept.
