Really nice team atmosphere, work life balance is good and corporate benefits are excellent Location right in the heart of the City, nice offices.

They keep a lot of people on contract and simply extend rather than make permanent. Push hard if you want permanent There are lots of great programmes for development but not a lot of space to actually move.

The company culture can be challenging for external hires, with minimal (and often zero) efforts to support integration into the existing organizational fabric. Career development support is virtually non-existent, leaving employees without clear pathways for advancement or opportunities to grow within the company and left to figure it out on their own. Talent management practices are suboptimal, with limited transparency and ineffective processes for recognizing and nurturing employees at all levels. There is a noticeable prevalence of bias and favoritism, especially against external hires, which undermines fairness and creates a demoralizing work environment for those not in favored circles which often leads to mischaracterization in performance reviews.

Unfortunately, between the extremely inept technology Vanguard uses, and the rigid compliance restraints we must follow, it is a difficult time to be a financial advisor at Vanguard. Upper management does not seem to know how to help us aside from rebranding our department’s name every so often.

Senior management is a mess: during my last three years, I reported to two separate Senior Managers on the “officer track” who were awful. One was sexist against women (HR agreed but it took over a year for them to do something) and the other screamed at the team and threatened to fire us whenever one of us disagreed with them.

Vanguard is behind in technology and it can cause problems throughout the day. They gave become bureaucratic and have too many managers. Management isn’t transparent about changes until they’ve already been implemented. Pressure to constantly hit metrics.

Advancement was very difficult mgmt often knows who they want for the role already and will waste your time on promotion interviews while giving you false hope. They often promote the last person you would expect deserves it
