I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ALDI (Rotherham, England) in Nov 2015
Interview
I applied online by filling out the application.
The next step of the application was to complete some numerical, verbal and logical tests.
Following a video interview, I was then invited to an assessment day at the Distribution Centre in the region I had applied for. I had applied to the Goldthorpe region.
I have to say the interviewer was very full of herself, I've never met an interviewer with such arrogance. She tries to bring the worst out of the candidates by creating a cut throat atmosphere. I was expecting to be interviewed by a regional director (as I had previously read), but instead our group was interviewed by a person who doesn't even work for Aldi. In total, there were 7 of us to one 'recruiter'. From experience of previous assessment days with other companies, if you have group discussions etc, there's usually one HR/recruiter per candidate in the room. This assessment day felt very amateur with Michelle trying to scribble notes down when people were talking etc. Sometimes I felt like she couldn't be bothered writing notes when people were speaking.
The day isn't very personal, and once you've completed the last exercise and filled in their feedback sheets you're shown the door. If you don't get through to the next round don't expect to get any feedback either. I rang up and asked but they said they didn't have any notes from my assessment day and that I could go to the Regional Distribution Centre to try and find someone and ask for feedback (unannounced). Now that doesn't sound crazy and psychotic in the slightest! The number you have to ring to speak to someone is an 0845 number too which can rack up your telephone bills!
I felt as if my performance was good enough to get me through to the next stage, especially in comparison to the others that attended the day. I feel like there was never an opportunity available at this time or they are looking for a very specific type of person for the role.
So good luck if you have an assessment day (especially for the Goldthorpe region) and try not to get caught up in the competitive atmosphere!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What do you think this assessment day will entail?
One on one call with recruiter, followed by an online interview with recruiter. Then an in person group interview with around 20 others where we did individual challenges and group tasks
prima chiamata telefonica e poi colloquio con HR conoscitivo. Tutto bene, non è entrati in aspetti tecnici della posizione. essendo un ruolo pesante hanno testato principalmente la motivazione e disponibilità a trasferimenti anche in aree remote.
