A recruiter called for the position. Discussed about compensation and current role. Got the first round of tech interview scheduled online. The interview was of 30 mins but lasted for slightly more than 2 hours. It was good and interviewer was really good. He was trying to make me comfortable during obstacles by explaining things. I cleared it and got the next round scheduled with one of the architect. This arch guy did not show up and rescheduled the interview. The recruiter mentioned that he is busy and in another meeting. (I felt I am the only one without work here!!) Never mind, this arch guy showed up in the second attempt. No respect. No apologies for cancellation of last meeting. We stared the interview. My video was turned on but he decided to not show himself, so my screen was completely blank. While explaining things, if my eyes turn towards other places (this usually happens when you don't have anyone in front of you!) and not towards the tini-tiny 3mm laptop camera lens, this arch guy will poke you saying "can you look at the camera?" At first instance, I was like, okay, let me try that. Again, when I was explaining things, and looking at the walls, he started again - "can you look at the camera?" After this instance, I completely lost what I was going to say and he kept on showing this behavior. This was completely awful and ridiculous!
Why are you hiding yourself on camera and expect interviewee to look at the camera? I didn't complaint anything about you not showing up on cam nor about cracking and crying noises from end.
These are pretty basic things you guys need to learn before taking any interview online. Learn how to make the interviewee comfortable.
You cannot raise yourself by pushing someone down.
I would like to thank this arch guy here. Without him, I wouldn't have decided whether to join or not.
