      Senior Vendor Manager Interview

      Dec 23, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Dec 2019

      Interview

The process was fairly straightforward and basically everything you read about in terms of interviewing with Amazon. It can be easy if you prep for it, though it will be very challenging if you do not. It started with a call from the recruiter followed by a phone screen with behavioral interview questions. Then I was invited to Seattle for an in-person 6 hour interview. Here is a breakdown of the interview process. Interview A: The hiring manager. This was a very laid back interview with a few behavioral questions and some brief follow up questions. We discussed the role, his expectations, and what it takes to succeed at Amazon. Overall this was the easiest of the interviews. Interview B - This was with one of the head's of vendor management. It was two behavioral interview questions that were relatively easy focusing on data analysis and a case review question. Overall this interview was a little more difficult because you have to walk them through the process of how you would approach a unique problem they are currently experiencing. Interview C - this was with a strategy and insight professional. I thought it was the Bar Raiser, however, I don't think it was. More behavioral questions nothing too difficult and very little follow up in terms of the answers I provided. I went into lunch very relaxed and confidant in my interview at this point. Then I was able to break for lunch for about an hour and then came back for the fourth interview and here is where things went off the rails. Interview D - this was most likely my Bar Raiser and this interview was highly difficult and a little disorganized. She was very clear in the 3 questions she asked about which leadership principle she was asking. However, my problem with this particular interview is that instead of working together to challenge me to deliver a great answer she just picked apart my career and told me everything I did was wrong. Quickly interrupted my responses and argued with every answer I gave. I admit that I did not handle it well and regardless of how well I did in previous rounds I knew this woman was not going to be inclined to hire me, which is honestly unfortunate. Interview E - this interview was easy compared to the previous one, but it ended after like 45 minutes, however, by that time I was ready to leave. Overall, the process was easy but I wasn't altogether impressed with the interview process because of the way Interviewer D handled herself - I know the Bar Raiser is important but she was just rude and borderline unprofessional which is probably what they are supposed to do, but I still think it is trite to diminish the accomplishments of another person just because you are trying to hire and develop the best. I do recommend applying and interviewing here. The process will make you a much better interviewee in future interviews. Good luck!

      Interview

Not great. Very first interview had no proper introduction to the role and was not with HR, interviewee went straight into a case study within 5 minutes. Didn't seem interested in my actual work background.
