I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Auckland, Auckland) in Sep 2024
Interview
I was contacted by an Amazon recruiter to apply for the role. Once I applied, the recruiter contacted me to guide me through the process step by step.
The interview comes in 4 steps:
1. Online assignment (no time limit ~approx. 60min, work simulation, work styles, technical competency)
2. Phone Interview (60min, technical)
3. Video conference (4 x 60min, scenario based leadership principle and technical assessment)
I had multiple meetings with the recruiter and they were very helpful in preparing me for each step. However I heard that the treatment depends on the demand for the role.
While the interview was fairly straightforward, it would be wise to be overly prepared for the Amazon leadership principle scenario questions at Stage 3 so that you do not pick the wrong choice of words or lackluster examples. I was told that many experienced interviewers fail because their examples fell short from meeting Amazon's high requirement of upholding their leadership principles.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Ashburn, VA) in Sep 2025
Interview
There were 4 interview phases. The first one was personality based and generic, the following were all technical with different individuals. It was a standard interview but I’d say you get brownie points for knowing their leadership principles.
