      Flight Attendant Interview

      Aug 15, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Neutral experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Aug 2016

      Interview

Process was surprisingly fast. Applied on 7/1, eventually had my F2F on 8/12. The face to face interview is a little odd. You have a group activity (it's simple) then a group of 7-9 of candidates for a group interview. You are asked three questions and that's it. Based on how well you stood out during the group activity and your answers to the group interview questions, you will either be taken somewhere else for a one on one or walked down a hallway where you will leave on the shuttle back to the airport. I would encourage anyone reading this to definitely try to lead during the group interview as a way to stand out, have good answers to the questions. (STAR format), dress to impress, smile a lot, be friendly and genuine to everyone. Also make sure to introduce yourself by shaking every recruiter's hand you meet even if it holds up the line behind you. I personally didn't care for the face to face interview process, I work in HR with a background in industrial/organizational psychology and I didn't find their process effective in hiring qualified candidates in the slightest. They passed on really great people, seasoned FA's that had experience at United, Spirit, Mesa, and American Eagle. With pretty much every other airline, there is a one on one process which based on my experience in HR is crucial to the hiring process. Good luck and if you don't get it, United, Southwest, and Delta are hiring. Keep trying! Plus American says they are doing aggressive hiring in the next 3 years. I now know what to expect for next time, but I hope they do change around their face to face process to give candidates more of a fair chance.
