I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at American Airlines in Dec 2013
Interview
Interviewed at AA within the last few months.
Applied during the summer online and got an email sometime in september asking to do a video interview.
Shortly after doing the video interview I got an email asking to update my application.
Shortly after getting that email I got a call to schedule an F2F which was completed on 12/4.
The interview was a surprise to me; this company makes sure to get to know everyone individually so there is no pressure to have to intentionally make yourself stand out during the process. You still have to stand out to a degree but very little compared to most other group interviews.
At the end of the interview we are all directed back into a room while the decisions are made on who should go forward. The key is to present yourself in a professionally during the first 2 phases of the F2F. This is speculation (but it almost happens this way); we are all called out individually and if you've been chosen you will be directed into a room to have a 1 on 1 interview then will be taken to be fingerprinted. If not they will ask if you have any questions while walking you out and you will be given your flight itinerary and taken to the door to wait for the airport shuttle. After this time there will be a wait and you find out within two weeks whether you've got the job. If you do you will get a CJO which you must accept then you will be sent for a Medical Exam and POET. I am currently waiting on the results of my Medical... If you pass you are scheduled for training.
