First you apply to the job and get sent an assessment, if you pass that, you get invited to the virtual group interview! You get asked 2 questions, 1 question will be an ice breaker that everybody in the group will get! And the 2nd question is a random behavioral or situational question. Some people get repeated questions, so pay attention and look engaged! If you pass this portion, you get invited to the face to face interview in Dallas/Fort Worth! I personally did not find it very nerve-wracking which is surprising since i'm an anxious person. Arrive early, greet everybody (from the shuttle driver to the front desk person to your fellow interviewees). Be polite! You'll be waiting in a room with the other interviewees, so socialize! I'm an introverted person who leans on the shy side so it was difficult for me to keep up in the conversations but I still tried my best and engaged!!! Always remember to smile!!! After everyone checks in, they will take you to a different room where the group interview portion will begin! First you will be split into groups and will do an individual writing assignment, nothing difficult, i am pretty sure they just do this so they can see what mindset you have. There is officially no wrong answer but yes, there are wrong answers LOL keep safety & teamwork in the front of your head when answering! Next, in your groups you will do an activity that you will present. My best advice is to assign yourself a role, whether it's to read the instructions, keep time, be the scriber, or be the spokesperson, do something! This is meant to see how you interact in a team and how you handle differing opinions! Do not be that person who is obnoxious and is overbearing! I had a person in my group who was trying to speak over everyone and make the sole decisions, they left in the first group. The recruiters are watching you and will be walking around! After that portion is done, you will be sent on break. Do not be on your phone! Don't even use the bathroom honestly, if you get the CJO you will be drug tested. Drink lots of water during this time and socialize with fellow interviewees and recruiters! I wish I had spoken personally with the recruiters! After the break is over, the group interview will begin! 1 question with 1 recruiter and the 2nd question with a different recruiter! You will not be given the same questions as the others in your group and you will not know the question until you flip the paper over when called on! Just think of general situations (angry customer, difficult coworker/manager, etc) and keep those in your head. The recruiters will be taking notes on your answer so use star method to keep yourself from rambling. And make your answers clear! And make sure you state what the end result was!! Also make sure to make both of your answers either customer service focused, safety focused, or teamwork focused! This is what they are looking for, if your answer doesn't have a clear focus, everyone will be lost. After this there will be a presentation about the company by the host, the recruiters use this time to go to their office and discuss who will be going to the 1 on 1's or getting the CJO's and who will be sent home in the 1st and 2nd group! When they come back, the people who didn't make it will be sent home. YES, if you are sent home in the first and second group - you did not get the CJO and will not be receiving one in email. Certain groups on FB have been confusing people about this. It is not true, they use the "we have to get you back to your flights" excuse just so people don't cry & act a fool & ask why or try to pressure the recruiters or make the ones who got the CJO uncomfortable. The people they think would be good replacements for those who decline the CJO, move forward to the 1 on 1 anyway and are then don't get it on the spot but might later! If you made it to the 1 on 1, you will be taken to do the reach & jump seat test. This is easy, don't worry about it at all! After this, different recruiters will call you individually by flight time! Now this part is different for each individual! I know some people didn't get any questions and just got the CJO, others had a long individual interview, and others just got bare minimum questions. I think it just depends on how sure they are about you! I got the bare minimum - basic questions. Why did you want this job, can you relocate, are u available for training, etc. Like required stuff lol My recruiter played a trick and started his sentence as if I didn't get it but then said they had already made a decision about me and that i got the CJO. Great feeling!! If you do get the CJO, you will immediately be taken to fingerprinting, paperwork, and drug testing. And boom - done! This interview was really fun and I had such a great time! The recruiters were nice and friendly and they really inspired me so much so, i would like to be a recruiter for American Airlines, myself.
