      Marketing Intern Interview

      Feb 26, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Express in Feb 2013

      Interview

It's a fairly simple interview process. I submitted my resume through the career center and the Amex website and got selected for a first round interview. The first round interview was 2-45 minute behavioral with some situational questions. I got a call in less than 24 hours for final round where they flew me out to NYC to participate in a Super Day. They only had me do two 2-30 minute behavioral interviews that were a little more situational this time. It was really casual and not intense at all. The interviewers are really nice and make you feel comfortable. I got a call 48 hours later for an offer, which I accepted.

      Question 1

We launched a new marketing campaign, and profitability went down even though sales went up. What happened? Is it ever okay for that to happen?

      Interview

The interview process was fairly structured and focused on behavioral and company-specific questions. Interviewers asked about leadership style, how you communicate with different stakeholders, and how you contribute to a team. There were also questions about the business itself, such as your favorite credit card and why, how American Express makes money, and how you would market Amex products to small business owners. Overall, it felt like they were assessing both cultural fit and basic understanding of the company’s value proposition.

      Interview

It was in-person, two-people, general questions, some specfific questions on how you would apporach a campaign, They were nice, lots of people interviewing the same day. But that was the last round, before that it was a online screening.

      Interview
