I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Bain & Company in Oct 2010
Interview
I applied online and then was called for the first round. Mixed feelings. I did OK on the cases but the feedback was that I was "too precise on the math" (guess I should not have pointed out the math error the interviewer made) and that I was not "convincing". They let me know the same day, so at least I did not have to wait around but I kind of expected more. One of the interviewers was nice, but one was arrogant so it left me with a not very good impression.
I applied online and got a online assessment after ~1 week. I completed the online test but I haven't heard back since then. The timeline is a bit uncertain to me.
First round case interviews. Got standard questions about profitability and market entry. IMO the most difficult part was reading complex charts and distilling the key insights with time pressure. There was little behavioral.
The interview was overall efficiently run and very professional. It had 2 stages; a case interview typical of management consuting interviews and a fit interview to assess cultural fit with the firm.
