This was actually with Merril Lynch which no longer exists. They were pretty angry as soon as I couldn't answer why I wanted to work at Merril Lynch. That was a big surprise and goes to show in order to even get to more questions answer the first well. After being unable to answer the first question well the rest of the time was painful where we both knew we were wasting each others time, yet they asked for a walkthrough of the resume. Completely pointless because I could tell they already made their decision.

Applied though the web-site. Was invited to the first stage interview only, which was on site in their London office. They were looking for relevant IB experience, transactions and sector experience, alongside technical skills.

Phone screening then zoom meetings with different levels of professionals in the group. Associates through MDs. Largely fit / experience based questions vs technical. Was a fairly efficient process in my experience. Took about 3.5 weeks

Interview
It was clear and cut. Two 30 minute interviews. First one was behavioral with two MDs and went fine. Second was pure technicals and a paper LBO with some extra questions that were asked at random (I am guessing the interview came up with them in the moment).
