Anonymous Interview Candidate in Greenfield, MA
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Baystate Health (Greenfield, MA) in Sep 2023
A brief 20-minute conversation with the head of the ICU and Med Surg division director. The interview reviewed personal work experiences, shift times, and the requirements regarding PCT work within a hospital environment. The interview setting was highly comfortable and the reviewer's manner in which they spoke was both discreet and respectful. Instead of a short back-and-forth conversation, the interviewer focused on having a meaningful conversation that helped me personally express my feelings, concerns, and personal goals regarding employment at the establishment. I would say the interview was low-stress and highly informative with clear meaning behind every question asked.
- How did you gain interest in the medical field and the company itself?

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Baystate Health (Holyoke, MA) in Apr 2023
I was contacted and had an initial interview with the recruiter and then ended up having a panel zoom interview. They said up to six managers could join the meeting, but only two of them did. The interview was very stiff and structured. They asked your basic interview questions and there wasn’t a lot of back and forth between the managers.

Met with different administrators and physicians. It was an all day process. There were follow up phone calls. The chief of neurosurgey sounded genuine. Overall atmosphere was friendly and warm.
- What will you bring to this place?

Anonymous Interview Candidate
I interviewed at Baystate Health
Easy, warm, standard questions about background and interests. Reviewed experiences on my resume and asked thoughtful questions. Asked about my intentions to stay in the area. Asked about previous work experiences.
- What are your professional Goals

Casual conversation, I decided it wasn't for me. The position would involve cold calling and a lot of uncertainty. I was thinking of a career change but it seemed too risky. Seems like a good opportunity for someone who is less risk averse.
- Why are you interested in working with us?

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Springfield, MA
I applied online. I interviewed at Baystate Health (Springfield, MA) in Sep 2022
Seems like the recruiter do not know enough about what they want employees to do on the med-surg floors. It’s hard to ask general questions because no one knows. Every thing was rushed before your question were even answered. Looks shady
- Do you have any experience?

A procedure for finding out how a professional is fit to perform the described duties. It seeks to find out a right person to be employed and subsequently bring benefit to a company.
- What motivated you to become a nurse?

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Baystate Health (Springfield, MA) in Nov 2021
I applied on their website. A recruiter contacted me about the position and scheduled an interview with the CISO. I had a Webex with the CISO which was very informal and a casual discussion about my experience, the hospital system and cybersecurity. A few weeks later they scheduled 3 interviews in the same day with 4 team members (2 on each call) and a followup with the CISO. The conversations were again informal discussions about my experience, the job , the nature of the hospital's current cybersecurity challenges and future growth. After over 3 hours of interviews, several weeks later I received the automated WorkDay 'we are no longer pursuing you as a candidate' e-mail. It feels cold, impersonal and insulting as a candidate - considering this is the same e-mail you would receive if you never had the opportunity to interview. I have received this before as an applicant here and at other organizations, but after hours of active interviews it's off-putting and makes me hesitant to apply in the future if this is how candidates are treated. This isn't my first time applying here, and the recruitment process has consistently been unorganized, misinformed or a black hole of communication and reflects poorly on the organization.
- Are you accustomed to working in an unstructured environment?

There were three interviews. The first was a brief "screening" type of interview with HR. They asked very basic interview questions. The second was with two dietitians and they asked a mix of clinical and situational questions. The final interview is a panel of dietitians and they primarily ask clinical questions.
